Comments about CamelBak Thermal Control Kit:
I use this basically all the time I use my CamelBak. The previous reviews mark it down for reasons that were not claimed from the mfg. in the first place. Cold-weather useage, anything will freeze. No sleeve is going to prevent that. Using here in the desert, in Arizona, the water that is in the tube gets warm, yes, but after the first immediate sip, is cold as the water in the bladder. The sleeve does what it is supposed to, no unrealistic expectations. Seems to fit fine in 4 different models I use of pack, but also only use Camelbak brand of pack. Might, if using an off-brand, not work too well. My only rservation from 5 stars is that the valve is not the angled one. Change that and I change my rating! Just keep your expecations within reason, or use a complete Thermos if your needs require true hot or cold capacity.

Comments about CamelBak Thermal Control Kit:
This inslulation works great IF you replace the valve it comes with with an ON/OFF valve from the normal Camel Bak line. The valve will NOT fit totally in the insulation cover but it does allow you to stop the water flow.
I still blow water out, and then close the valve while skiing

Comments about CamelBak Thermal Control Kit:
For me it works as expected. I don't expect a sleeve to prevent freezing in long term cold so if its real cold I just shove it in my jacket when I'm skiing and pull it out on the lift or when me and my partners stop to chat only takes a second.

Comments about CamelBak Thermal Control Kit:
I have this on my current camelback. It works great. Trail hiking, mountain biking, and skiing. In the summer, especially while mountain biking, it keeps the dirt/dust off of the mouth piece. The extra sleeve helps protect the tube. In the winter, it does keep the tube from freezing faster than if it had no sleeve. It will still freeze, like others have mentioned, but just be smart about it.
And since the mouth piece is covered with a cap, it keeps things from bumping it and discharging water. I have never had a problem in 3 years of water running out when I did not want it to. No need for a lock on the end.

Comments about CamelBak Thermal Control Kit:
I own and enjoy several Camelback products, but this was a big disappointment in cold weather for me. I purchased and tested this product twice after receiving additional instruction from other users. Even with blowing the water out the tube each time I drank, the bite valve and tube froze quickly in temps hardly at freezing. In addition, you're losing the positive on/off valve in this product. I hope the Camelback R&D team keep working on this.

Comments about CamelBak Thermal Control Kit:
I was looking for something to keep the hose from freezing in cold weather. Only worked if above 25 degrees but even then you must use every few minutes or it will freeze. The extra insulation width doesn't fit though most precut holes in packs. Once frozen, very hard to thaw. The end cap hard to keep on in cold weather and the bit valve ends up freezing. I quit using mine.

Comments about CamelBak Thermal Control Kit:
Does not keep water cold in tubing.
Clip has deposited rust on all of my tech clothing.
Am hoping it will at least prevent valve freezing in winter, but doubtful.
Installation required significant elbow grease.

Comments about CamelBak Thermal Control Kit:
i got this, cuz i was sick of my water getting to hot, and freezing in the different seasons. i leave this on year round (mostly cuz it's a pain to get on and off) it keeps it from freezing definately! but my water still gets a little warm...overall, if you have [$] though, it's a must have!!!!

Comments about CamelBak Thermal Control Kit:
Bought and retrofitted my HAWG for skiing. Worthless as I had more trouble with frozen tubing than with the standard set. Like others have pointed out, there is no stop control valve to prevent the liquid from being displaced from the reservoir so frozen line was a constant problem (blowing air into the tube like the standard set and then locking was not possible). Not worthwhile for skiing. Might be ok for other activities (Summer?) but doubt it.
On the plus side, it does look nice but at a huge cost.
