I used to LOVE Dansko clogs. The quality and comfort was unsurpassed. That was when Dansko clogs were made by the european company, Sanita. They're still nice shoes, comfort, support, etc. but the quality and support had definitely, noticeably gone down since they cut ties with Sanita and started making their clogs in China. I will just buy Sanita clogs from now on.

Just got these, not at REI, but after seeing them on everyone! I knew I had to get some of these. Going to be trying them out in London, as all the other shoes I've worn, while they might have been comfortable at one time became very uncomfortable eventually, especially on cobblestone streets. that will be the big test. Will add to my review then.

I have worn and loved these professional clogs for at least 10 years but have had to exchange--and yesterday, returned for good--3 different pairs of them. The thin leather strip around the top edge of the shoe kept ripping for no good reason (once, the first week I wore them), and the shoes just aren't as comfortable as they used to be (my arches cramp up in them and get sore). It makes sense to me to learn that Dansko has changed manufacturers, but it's sad also, because I wore them all the time--with jeans, skirts, whatever.
Service and delivery comments:
I had trouble with these shoes, but not at all with REI's service. The store exchanged the shoes without any hassle several times, then yesterday gave me a full refund to my credit card--even though the original charge was more than a year ago. It made me feel good about buying from REI, and totally comfortable with continuing to shop at REI in the future. Thanks.

First things first; I would NOT advise buying these shoes online. There isn't anything wrong with buying things online, but these shoes are handmade and each one will fit differently. I bought a pair and wore them around the house for a couple of days before deciding they were just to big and exchanging them for a pair of the same size that felt smaller. I normally wear a size 6.5, so I initially tried on the size 37 which was just too small. Your heal should not rub the back of the shoe at all or you will get blisters. Also, when you go to try them on, keep in mind the type of socks you normally wear. You may even take a couple of different pairs of socks with you to get a feel for what you need.
These are great for wet weather and paired with Smartwool socks, they are a can't miss for cool weather. A+++

These shoes are fabulous. They take some getting used to if you aren't used to wearing clogs, but they have excellent support and are easy to wear with skirts or pants. Because they are handmade, sizing is not always accurate - best to try on in the store.

Comments about Dansko Professional Clogs - Women's:
One year ago I bought these after my money was returned from orthotics that didn't work anymore. I've been wearing the same Dansko Professional pair of shoes daily for 1 year. Work, Casual, Yard Work...and they are still going strong, still look good, and I haven't suffered from Plantar Fasciitis since the first day I put them on. Besides the Plantar Fasciitis I have hammer toes, Morton's toe and my right foot is a 1/2 size smaller than the other. I am also 60 lbs. overweight and am on my feet alot. Now, as a result, I can also go barefoot for at least 3 hours without pain, previously I couldn't put my foot down without limping.
Like others here I agree that the shoes are rock hard so I inserted an extra thick full length sole pad. You must try them on in person with socks or nylons and padding to get a proper fit. As the shoes wear they get looser, the leather edge begins to crack and the shoes become more unstable...I have twisted my weaker ankle a few times but now I'll wear an anklet if my ankle is feeling less stable that day. Otherwise, I like the constant balancing the feet must do...I find it strengthens my ankles more than injures.
My major complaints are: the shoes SQUEAK when you walk. I've bought two other pairs and they all squeak, some louder than others. Sometimes it gives me a headache and I wear ear plugs. I notice as my old pair ages it squeaks less.
Other complaint: Too loose in the toes which causes soft corns...it could just be my problem with my hammer toes hitting the hard shoe surface while gripping for balance.
I do get foot cramps periodically, mostly when driving but usually when the shoe is new.
I have tried many other shoes, however, this shoe, with its high arch for support appears to handle most of my major problems even tho' it has created some initial minor ones. I vary between 2 different sizes to find the right fit. I wish I had found these earlier my feet would have been a lot happier and healthier.

I finally bought a pair of these after learning how they are supposed to fit, which is loosely on the heel. I've had them for about 2 months and have literally not worn any of my other shoes since. I am a nurse and on my feet most of the day, up and down steps and walking hallways; whether I wear them with or without socks, in heat or rain, they are always comfortable, stable and durable. I recently developed a bunion on one foot and was experiencing increasing discomfort even with many of my foot-friendly shoes, so I bought some Super Feet to add some support to my old shoes. But these Dansk clogs need nothing more to support my affected foot. I plan to buy another pair in a different color and considering retiring the other shoes in my closet!!

I first purchased a pair of these in black to replace a pair of black loafers I used for work. These are perfect for work with slacks (although they aren't exactly dressy, but the slacks are long enough). We have a business casual dress code at work and many women in our building have these - from early 30s to older women. I've seen them worn with pants, slacks, skirts. I wear mine with jeans too on the weekends. They are very universal. My younger sister turned me on to them - she's on her feet all day.
I took these to NY with me on a business trip. I wore them during the conference for work with slacks. After, I threw on some jeans and walked all over Manhattan each night. I only got a blister the last night. And I covered a lot of ground, fast!
Since I can't find a pair of brown boots I like, I'm here to buy a pair of these in brown. These are definitely worth the money. I've got my money's worth already.

I have heal pain and these shoes help my feet like none have done before. Plus, the classic, timeless style make these shoes go with just about any outfit. I have two pairs, brown and black, so I have something to wear with anything. I have had mine for two years now, they look great even though I am hard on shoes, and they don't go out of style. A great investment.

I own the Cabrio Professional clog in black and have ordered it in the new color, Hickory. For most of spring and fall it is my everyday shoe. I also wear it in winter when there isn't snow on the ground. This is by far the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned!
I needed a shoe with good arch support, because my feet were hurting. In my other shoes I now wear an orthotic, but this shoe has amazing arch support so no orthotic is needed. If you want great arch support, this is the shoe for you. It has much better arch support than even the other Dansko shoes.
It is VERY important to be professionally fitted for this shoe. It is not supposed to fit like a normal shoe. Most people have to go up a size or perhaps even two. This is normal. Your foot will feel like it is "floating" inside the shoe. There will be lots of room for your toes and there will be a space between your heel and the back of the shoe. If you haven't worn these shoes before it will feel like you have on too large a size. Almost like you could step right out of the shoe. That's because we are used to having our shoes confine our feet. I was told that your foot has to be able to move inside the shoe because the base of the shoe is rigid and will not flex.
These shoes are made to be good for your feet even if you are on your feet all day long. Plus they are very well made and will last a long time. They are well worth the investment.
