My forearms are bulging

The GripMaster has essentially improved every aspect of my life. From improving how I hold a fork to letting me squeeze my own oranges now. This thing is probably the best thing I've ever invested in - and I bought Apple stock in the early 2000's. I can rock climb with one hand, play a guitar with two, and do both with 3. I've gotten to where I no longer need a fishing rod, I now just go out and catch fish with my bare hands. My friends now call me Vice after the GripMaster has given me bulging forearms.

Horrible ergonomics, good concept

What kills this product is bad ergonomics. The base (that presses against your palm/thumb) is very narrow and sharp. So, long before your forearm/fingers get tired from compression, you develop pain in your palm from the base plate of the grip master digging into the root of the thumb and palm, damaging underlying tissue. Had the manufacturer made the base twice as thick and more rounded (like a pistol grip) it would have been fantastic. The secondary pain comes from the base being too short. It does not extend to the end of the palm where nice beefy tissues are, instead it ends in the bonny spot in the middle again causing great discomfort.

A Postive Spin

This was my 1st finger training device I purchased and it still works like a charm. I am sure the springs are being less restive each time I use it but the change is hardly noticeable. The black grip can be moved to either side of the device exposing either a flat bar where all of you fingers will depress this bar, or a key side where each finger has its own key to depress. This is a great device for intro level climbers to build up so muscles quickly (or slowly if you want to). So may find this to be pricey but I think it is still worth it.

Large hands? Buy Pro version

Another 1 star review by "Sergei" talks about poor ergonomics and I suspect that person also has larger hands. I dealt with the same discomforts and decided to get the Pro version of the heavy resistance when I was done with the medium resistance. It's well worth the extra $7 if you have larger hands just for the significant increase is size in all dimensions. Inversely, it's a shame there's not a small size Pro version so people with small/medium hands can get the better ergos of the Pro's palm bar, the arced finger pads, and the rubber overmold.

Buy It!

This thing is awesome. I have never used them before but I bought the highest resistance one and I have noticed a change in my hands, fingers, and forearms in just a few weeks (Not how they look, but the way the feel and how they perform). I am on the computer a lot be it for work or school or Warcraft, and I would use this thing at the computer constantly or carry it around the house. Got a loading screen, do a few reps. On a zoom meeting? Lets get in a few squeezes. The instructions that come with it are perfect too for proper use. Easy to master. Worth every single penny.

Good for training and brain distraction

This is great for beginners looking to condition their hands for climbing. After a year of consistent, once per day use, I feel a tangible improvement in my grip strength. Unintentionally, use it the most at the office as a more constructive fidgeting device. It's quiet enough not to bother the guy in the next cubicle and doesn't take up much room in a drawer or backpack. Now I take it with me everywhere. I saw results faster than anticipated because it's so easy to pick up and do 10-20 reps randomly throughout the day.

Great tool

I am a competitive pistol shooter. This tool helps me increase my grip strength. It works better than the old ones I had because each finger gets an equal amount of weight. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because for some reason the hard plastic hurts my left hand. Other than that, it does what it's supposed to do. Well worth the purchase.

color counts

Make sure you pay attention to the color they indicate the strength. I got blue bot realizing and its rather easy. There a couple of different ways to use it to change the workout. Something cheap to throw in the car for the drive to work.

Better shot

I bought this tool to build strength in my fingers. I have been using it for about 4 weeks and have noticed a great improvement in my finger strength. With the strength I have gained better trigger control and have improved my accuracy. I would recommend the grip master to anyone who wants smaller groups
