Comments about Sanitation Trowel:
Pretty self-explanatory. My shovel has held up well and is able to dig through fairly tough soil.
I like to wrap my duct tape around the handle. It's a very convenient storage spot, and the duct tape has bailed me out more than once (like the time my tent pole snapped).

Comments about Sanitation Trowel:
This trowel will get the job done in most warm weather conditions, but be careful taking it below freezing. I used it on a snow-shoe trip and the plastic cracked under regular use.

Comments about Sanitation Trowel:
Many a holes has my [*] shovel dug. I've had mine for years and have no complaints. My favorite feature is the graduated marks along the side that help you measure your holes.

Comments about Sanitation Trowel:
Bought this for backpacking when I lived in CO, and it worked okay for me there. But it didn't stand a chance against very hard, stony desert ground (in Death Valley NP, CA) I recently encountered! Fortunately I was car camping and a regular shovel was available to dig the needed hole. ;) Good item, but has its limits!

Comments about Sanitation Trowel:
You don't need an overbuilt shovel for backpacking - buy this light plastic one.

A must have on backcountry trips to effectively and correctly perform its associated function. Have used on numerous trips and has remained sturdy in difficult soils.

Save yourself [$] and half a pound and buy this shovel over the other personal shovels. I've had mine for probably 6 years and it doesn't even have a chip in the blade. More sturdy than you would think.

Comments about Sanitation Trowel:
This product is great for places with loose soil.
Sadly for me it broke in half on my first attempt in tough conditions. I now use a plastic shovel for gardening; it weighs more but seems more sturdy.

Comments about Sanitation Trowel:
At first this lightweight trowel looked like it could do the job. Well, perhaps digging in sand or soft dirt. But, in the Colorado Rocky Mountain soils, this little device failed.
Two days into my trek the trowel showed stress. After taking it easy on the poor thing it completely failed on the fourth day, breaking across the middle of blade.
Next time I'm bearing up to a little more weight and taking a steel trowel.

Comments about Sanitation Trowel:
There's really not much to say about this little shovel. It is good for what it says, and it's not heavy.
