I absolutely love wearing these on the trail. I wear a size 10.5/11, and I mostly hike in Florida and the south east. These are great on the rooty, muddy, sandy trails of Florida as they're lightweight but sturdy and they don't quickly fill with sand. With that said, the back is unusually high, providing a sort of lip that can not be adjusted. There are no additional eyelets to tighten the shoe for more of a runners fit, so if this lip rubs the top of your ankle it leads to really bad blisters/sores. I love these so much that I haven't returned them yet, hoping to find a solution that I can live with, but be aware that this is something you may find is a problem.
These shoes feel great. They run a half size up so if you wear a 11 you may be a 10 in this shoe. They never had a break in period. They always felt comfortable and handled a long day well. But... and it's a big but. This is my second pair, I had to return the first pair and will now have to return the second... within 6 months! One pair can't handle anything close to heavy use. I have been wearing the second pair for 3 months and almost to the day the seems fall a part. This is not a good buy imo. They can't stand up to any kind of durability test and there is obviously some sort of flaw at the seems.
I love these shoes. They’re really casual looking and extremely comfortable. The grip is really good and I felt super secure on different types of rocks. They do run large so order a 1/2 size down. I had to return these because there was a lot of pressure on only my left ankle bone and I ended up getting a bruise on it. I thought I could ignore it because I love everything else about this shoe, but when I went to put these on the next day it was pretty painful. Overall a great shoe that was designed and executed super well, but I not for me. I have a history of some ankle sprains and a repaired ACL, so it’s possible that the angle of my leg with a little bit of a change in my ankle structure could be the issue.
I really loved these in the store because of the great traction with sneaker-like comfort. However, when I was on the trail, I realized that they were probably a half size too big. I'm usually a 7.5 due to width, but the length of these was slightly too large. The traction was awesome while going up a very rocky trail, but the size difference made me unable to really get the best feel for them. I exchanged these for the Salomon Outpulse GTX Mid's instead, which have the same sneaker-like feel with more ankle support, and I got those in a size 7 which was a better fit for me.
I owned these about a year but only wore them for about six months of that when there wasn’t snow on the ground where I live. I mostly used them for walking our dog on dirt roads and simple dirt walking trails. I packed them on a trip where I’d be doing some hiking since they’re smaller than my hiking boots. After a fairly simple shoreline hike, I noticed the fabric-like material separating from the rubber-like material where the shoe bends when I step. This was on both sides of one shoe and one side of the other. After another 3-4 mile hike that included going up and over rocks, the fabric area was shredded where it was separated. To be clear, there were no strenuous hikes in these shoes when fabric started separating. I got maybe 200-250 miles of walking out of them.
Purchased these to diversify my hiking footwear ahead of a big trip through Zion, Bryce & Capitol Reef. Perfect shoe for lower mileage hikes (5-7 miles). Lightweight and super comfy. Feet felt stable and supported over varied terrain. Great for kicking around camp as well. NOTE: Shoes run a wee bit long; would recommend sizing a half size down.
I purchased these shoes for day hiking on moderately challenging trails in Scotland. They are comfortable out of the box and don't need breaking in. They were supportive enough for hiking with a day pack and gripped well on steep, wet, rocky trails. They run on the narrow side, but the toe box is comfortable. They are water resistant but not waterproof. My feet got wet (but not soaked) hiking in steady rain, with gaiters. These shoes were toasty warm with wool socks on cold days, but would be too hot for a warm climate. Overall, I am happy with this purchase.
I bought these Salomons for walking, often with an on-leash enthusiastic dog—over varied terrain, in varied weather, and with occasional pulls. This after having found my new Rykas to be treacherously lacking in both water resistance and grip. First, the Salomons are cute. The white sole gives them a tennie vibe. They fit fairly well, tho a bit snug up under my ankles (hence the 4 stars). They appear, through heavy dew, to be acceptably water-resistant. And the grip is great. Overall, a thumbs up!
I am very pleased with these shoes, especially since they were on sale. They fit well and are comfortable. I always were new shoes indoors for quite a while before wearing them outside. I have not walked outdoors with them yet but have worn them all day indoors while cooking and doing housework. They have good arch support. I usually wear size 10 in athletic shoes but followed the size guide while ordering and chose size 9. It’s a perfect fit.
These shoes were relatively comfortable but after about 20 miles there's a hole on the upper part of both shoes where they rub each other when I walk. I have no other shoes that have this problem.
