I was looking for a new pair of binoculars to replace my 7x35's and these fit the bill. I searched and compared just about every pair of binoculars within the $500 dollar mark before choosing these. I read most of the reviews, specifications, and watched a lot of YouTube and in the end, these are my own observations. These are a massive advancement over my existing pair of Bushnell 7x35mm binoculars in every measurable aspect. These are more compact and lightweight, while at the same time utilizing higher quality materials throughout their entire build. The chasse is comprised of magnesium with a semi-hard rubber coating. They feel comfortable in the hands and sit well on my face. These binos deliver a wide field of view and have a close focusing distance of five feet, making them perfect for viewing insects as well as birding. The optical quilty is there as they are bright and clear. The focusing wheel is smooth and accurate. Lastly, the accessories all seem to be worthy of the provided instrument. In all, given the price point of under $200 dollars, the quality, and form factor. These binoculars are very difficult to beat. I can see where the money went. So, yes. I would highly recommend the Vortex Diamondback HDs. Don't take my word for it, try for yourself. REI has a super easy return policy if you are not happy.
These are my first pair so I don't have any personal comparison but they have been working very well so far for me and are reliable. They seem quality made and they are not too bulky. They won't be as good as more expensive models, but for someone getting into bird watching I think it's good. I have used them in bright and dimmer situations. They help make out bird colorings when it's a bit darker out. However I can't say I've used them right at dawn when it's very dark.
I bought these for my wife who has never been able to use binoculars. The 10x magnification was perfect for her, but more importantly the wide field of view was just why she needed to comfortably use the binoculars. Furthermore, the Vortex warranty made this a worry free purchase and easy! I didn’t mention the vortex quality because it is a given… I have owned many of their products over the years and this one is no exception to the standard. Priced low for comparable quality optics - worth the money.
These binoculars are a great quality for the price! Very portable great eye relief for comfortable viewing. Also vortex has an awesome warranty policy.
