I bought these pants from REI for a trip to South America, as an everyday wear - jungle pant, and by my second day in country and third time wearing the pants the backside fabric is stretching apart. Evidently this ground breaking knit with the durability of a woven isn't built to last. Nice design, poor quality. Not worth the money.
I'm a fitness trainer and after I split a pair of levis while demonstrating a back squat, I said no more. These pants allow me to wear them anywhere without looking like a total geek in sweat pants while allowing me to do everything in my profession. I also really love the side pockets in which I use one for my cell phone. Now when I wear other pants without these features, it feels like I'm back in the 1950s. Quaint. Though note, these are not good pants for durability while used in tough environments. I ripped a pair when I was working in a job that had me rubbing on concrete and stone. But there are other KUHL choices for that scenario. Great brand.
He had a pair that he wore for our Alaska trip. Hiking kayaking bear watching. Held up well for years. Thought they were expensive but for all the use and they look excellent on him. They are worth it.
I've had a few pairs of these for almost 4 years now. They have been my go-to pants for everyday comfort, hiking, and several backpacking trips. I love the flexibility, breathability, quick drying, and cell phone pockets. The only strike against them is they're on the baggy side and not very stylish (they're hiking pants). There is one pair in particular that I've used for most of my hiking and backpacking, and I just recently noticed some very minor wear of the seam on the inside ankle cuff area (photo). I remember overhearing an REI employee telling a customer that they were not durable because of all the panels and seams, but my experience just doesn't bear that out - all the panel seams are intact. For what it's worth, I avoid washing them except when they obviously need it. I expect this pair to last another year or two, and the other two pairs remain in excellent condition.
These pants rock. I wear them everyday, sometimes 2 weeks without even washing them. Alaska is chilly in summer, and wet, quick dry and warm, they're perfect. Stretchy inseam is key, durable, roomy enough to do everything. Also perfect in spring and fall when it's cold and wet, for biking, bike commuting, fat biking, hiking, bouldering, nordic skiing (in a pinch), even fishing, and super for long airplane flights. Also fashionable enough for cities if you're a dude with a beard. They're my Go To Pants and even after the inner button broke, I just 3mm cord them together.
My son absolutely loves these pants. They have good size pockets that look sturdy. They are midwieght, my son is planning to use them for winter hiking with long johns under them. They are super comfortable due to the discrete stretch panels. They fit nicely around the ankle, enough room to fit over a hiking boots but not flared. My son is short at 5’4.5 and you can see the pants are a bit long - but the pants do not hit the ground when he’s wearing his tennis shoes. (The pants are a 32 inch). We are buying more because they are his favorite pants.
I found these line of KUHL men’s pants a couple of years back at REI, and I have’t worn any other men’s pants or shorts than this line since then.....all four seasons of the year. I wear a size 40, and I can tell you also that they are “slimming”. These pants fit, are super durable, washable, and there are a lot of colors available from the manufacturer. REI offers 3 colors only I’m okay with that. The pants have built in stretch panels the exact same color of the fabric in various areas, so they are comfortable and easy to move around in.
kuhl. is a most innovative company that is and has been a provider of state of the art winter weight heavy duty pants. Great for trail hiking, snow skiing and other winter sports, introduces now, a new style of summer weight outdoor dungarees known as ‘radicle’ pants. Using new patent pending ‘rhino tech’ construction and design, they are soft THE MOST stretchable and therefore comfortable pants with breathable mesh inseams. they look smart and feel superb. whether motorbiking or bicycling, they have just the right relaxed fit. buy one pair of these trousers and you will never look again for another line of pants again.
I love everything about Kuhl pants but the main snap. When I am active in these pants and working bending over twisting and having to use the restroom the main snap comes undone. This happens even on pants that are loose on my waist (and trust me that is a rarity)! I do not have this issue with any other pants. Until Kuhl puts a snap or a button or something that actually keeps your pants fitted to your waist we are DONE-ZO! I might actually return my latest purchase of 3 pairs because of the main snap or whatever that non-working apparatus is above the zipper! You hear that, Kuhl? You and me...DONE-ZO! Bring back the button!!
I bought these pants in two different colors about 2 years ago and have worn them nearly everyday since (no, I am not exaggerating!). Not only are they extremely functional, but they look nice too. I climb, hike, and work in these pants and they have been remarkable. After much abuse, I do have a few holes in each pair, similar to those reported by others who have posted reviews. However, this is expected of an outdoor pant that gets used and abused for 2 years. That said, I will be buying more!
