Great Arch Support
I have three pairs of Chaco sandals, but this is the first pair that do not go over the toe. I got them because in the winter I can not wear my regular Chacos in the house with thick socks. And my feet hurt if I don't have the arch support, i.e., wearing house shoes most of the day. I find that this particular pair had the same great feel, but the straps seem much more flimsy than the straps on my other Chacos. It can't be a question of them changing their products, because I just had a pair "ReChaco-ed" in September, and the new webbing they put on was the same heavyweight as always. So I'm not sure why the webbing on this particular pair was so weak. I'm hoping that this webbing will be as durable as the other.
They are getting better and better!
I bought my first pair of Chacos after having read about them for years from Appalachian Trail thruhikers. I have never been on an extended hike but I just could not imagine hiking 2,000 miles in sandals. I have fallen arches, also known as flat feet and could not find any boots or trailrunners that did not hurt my feet. I saw the Chacos on sale and thought that I may as well give them a try. I ordered them online and I received them quickly. They came in a shoebox, in a big evenvelope type package. The shoebox was completely destroyed but the Chacos were fine. I was surprised by their weight as they are quite heavy. They are incredibly well made and look as though they will last forever. I eagerly put them on and they were heavy, clunky and they made me feel like I was going to fall backwards. I kept losing my balance. But I wanted to love them so bad and join those who rave about them online. I started wearing them about two hours a day with wool socks. Eventually I started wearing them without socks. I was conscious of them. But eventually I forgot I was wearing them. Now I know I could hike 2,000 miles in them. Break them in slowly by wearing them a short time everyday. I am in love with my Chacos now! I really, really love them!
Love Chacos but
These had a really odd fit. The edges where the heel straps are cut into my feet. Perhaps I needed a bigger size? Not normally a wide in shoes but these felt very narrow. I own other Chaco sandals but none fit like this one.
