Comments about Lone Wolf Landslide Knife:
I needed a high quality pocket knife that was the next step above my beloved Leatherman that I ruined with an electrical blowout!
This is made by Benchmade in Oregon, but is just marketed as a different brand line.
The hi-vis orange was also important to me - too many knives are "military" black. I want to see and find it quickly on the job site or camp site.

Comments about Lone Wolf Landslide Knife:
As a former Benchmade owner (556 mini grip) I had a difficult decision to make between this knife and the similarly priced 551 griptillian. The Landslide is extremely sharp with a smooth non-serrated blade, which I prefer to the partial serration on the Benchmade. It cuts cardboard boxes like paper. The locking mechanism is solid, though the knife is not quite as smooth to open as a Benchmade. I do miss the assisted opening feature present on my SOG and Kershaw knives. The handle is very comfortable and the knife seems quite durable. Looking forward to using this as my new backpacking companion.

Comments about Lone Wolf Landslide Knife:
This knife is my dream come true. It's in many ways like a luxury version of the Kabar Dozier: basic, functional drop point with tremendous tip strength, lightweight plastic handle in neon orange that makes it very hard to lose. I was worried about the steel choice- steels that are specifically rust resistant (Benchmade uses this steel in dive knives) tend to be hard to sharpen, tend not to take a great edge, and tend to dull easily. On the contrary, the steel grinds very easily and takes one of the finest edges I've ever put on stainless steel. It won't hold that edge like carbon steel, but it's better than even my spyderco's VG10 in terms of edge holding, and that's really something. The knife's shape and color make it very friendly looking, and I don't find myself feeling self conscious about using it around others, or getting joking comments about "Am I gonna stab someone," the way I do with many knives. The only problem I had with it was that the secondary bevel(the edge) was way too abrupt, as it usually is on Benchmade knives. Especially given that the blade is so unusually thick. So I ground the secondary bevel all the way back to the primary bevel (slightly convexing it), making what is essentially a scandinavian folding knife. I love it now.

Comments about Lone Wolf Landslide Knife:
Purchased this from Benchmade. The first thing you'll notice is the build quality, which is very high. Blade is VERY sharp N680 steel. Opening the blade is very smooth, and very easy.
I would buy again.
