Comments about Novara Metro Gel Road Bike Shorts - Men's:
Good for short rides (15 - 20 mi). I haven't done any long rides on these so i am not the right person to ask. But for short rides, the shorts are very confortable.

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Road Bike Shorts - Men's:
After about 25 miles on hot days these shorts become a little hot. I have had for about 4 months and ride 80 miles aweek 3-20 mile rides and 2 -10 mile rides and these shorts work fine for this little amount of riding.

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Road Bike Shorts - Men's:
I "bought" these shorts with my dividend as a 2nd pair of commuting shorts. I ride 20.5mi each way everyday (~200 miles/week). I also ride with an ex-racer so we ride hard and fast. The shorts have 2 layers of padding. A thin dense gel layer on the bottom which really helps the chafing when I'm pulling hard. There is a 2nd soft foam layer for a little extra comfort too.
This is my 3rd different pair of road short I've bought this year. First was Canari, they fell apart in < 100miles of riding. Next was The Pearl Izumi Quest shorts. They are decent, but they chafe slightly on hard rides. So I use them on casual rides with my fiancee.
I decided to buy these in a Medium (I'm right between a medium and large) which is on the small side, but they work perfect. I like a really snug fitting short. The less the short moves the less chafing you will have.
Everyone will have a different preference when it comes to shorts, but these are my favorite by far. I'll be buying more soon.

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Road Bike Shorts - Men's:
These shorts are fine. Granted, I got them while they were on sale for [$]and for their normal retail price I wouldve probably swung for the Pearl Izumi Quests but I refuse to pay $50 for bicycle shorts period. They fit well and have good padding. I wore them on a 15+ mile ride and the seams held up, and have held up through 2 washings just fine. All you casual riders, dont look like all the posers and overpay for some fancy short you use once a week with an over-branded jersey. Get these (preferably on sale) and do your wallet and self worth a favor!

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Road Bike Shorts - Men's:
I had not heard of Saddle Sores until I rode these shorts, which were my first spandex style road bike short. Unfortunately, after a 25 mile ride I had a spot on my tender bittles that burned as if someone put a lighter to them...another 20 miles and the same thing. I traded these up for the Pearl izumi Elite's and put some Shea butter on and it is a world of difference. Get these if you are into moderate rides of 10-15 miles every three, or four days, but do not waste the money on these if you are looking to knock out a century. The padding seems to bunch in areas and leads to saddle sores. I would recommend these to anyone that is looking for an entry level short, but not someone that wants to train on completing a century anytime soon. I also tried to trade up to the 10 panel Novara short, the [$] version, and the reviews are correct. The padding is out of place and doesn't sit in the correct areas. Skip Novara if you are looking for a solid short that will afford you 30+ mile rides in comfort. [...]

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Road Bike Shorts - Men's:
These shorts are poorly designed and overpriced. within two short rides (under 10 miles each) the chamois seams came loose. It is apparently a common problem with the Novara shorts. I will be returning them and taking my business elsewhere. A note to REI, you might want to read these comments from time to time as several people have complained about the poor quality of Novara brand shorts.

Great fit. Right out of the bag I put them on and went for a 3 hour ride. Comfortable. I like that there is no drawstring.
