This bag is great for short trips or slightly longer ones if you pack light. If you don't need to access your laptop while flying, this is nice to put in the overhead compartment and then carry a small, personal item per airline regulations. If you expand the bag, it's too big for a carry-on, so be aware of that. I love High Sierra products and was excited to see this on sale. My only complaint is that the zipper stick a bit, even brand-new; I may end up trying some WD-40 on it. Oddly, the tag from High Sierra that came attached to mine claims there are hide-away backpack straps, but I cannot find them and they are not in any pictures - however, this bag when loaded would be boxy and uncomfortable as a backpack, so I don't mind there not being any!
