The first thing you notice about this is the weight - or lack thereof. I bought the large size to use in winter comping as an insulator from the snow. This size is big enough to keep your entire bag off the ground or snow. It weighs only 16.5 oz.
The pad is softer than other closed cell foam pads. I can't wait to sleep on it.
The surface is textured so my bag doesn't slide off of it.
I'm going to buy another because my other family members won't give it back!

We have used these pads on a backpacking trip and on several car camping trips, and it they are definitely better suited for car camping. The pad's size and material make it insuitable for backpacking; it kept catching on tree branches, didn't come with a stuff sack and therefore got dirty, and was awkward and bulky to attach to our packs. It even got gouged in a few places and the material isn't scratchproof so it's very beat up and scarred at this point. Because it's foam, it doesn't roll down to a nice small size; rolled up it's about twice the size of a yoga mat.
For car camping, the pad is perfect as it's cushy and comfortable, and in very cold weather (we also like to camp in the winter), we use it as the base layer and put our inflatable pads on top of it for extra insulation. It is so large that it keeps everything off the ground, including our pillows and our large rectagular sleeping bags. For a large person (6'+), it would be great because it's very wide and long. For my boyfriend and I (5'8" and 5'4"), it's luxurious.

I was drawn to this pad by its price and its weight, but even so, don't let those fool you. This mat is gigantic and impossibly bulky. It's 2, maybe even three times the width of my pack (which is a large 85 L). the only use i could even see coming from this mat is on a super cold hike where you need to have 2 mats and bulkiness isn't an issue.
