Comments about Mad Rock Mad Pad:

I've taken this pad out a few times and I'm really happy with it. It is bulkier than some pads but definitely not the bulkiest I've seen out there. The thickness of this pad really gives me the extra mental confidence I need outdoors. Ultimately, for me, that is the most important thing as a beginner and someone who wants to keep from getting injured so I can keep improving my skills.

Comments about Mad Rock Mad Pad:

I took this pad on my families spring break trip to Moab. The pad worked great as my wife, kids and I took falls on it over and over again. My kids also slept on it, though 2 would have made a better bed. It is a little on the bulky side, but was nice to fall on.

Comments about Mad Rock Mad Pad:

This crash pad is my favorite one to use. It is the thickest pad of any crash pad that I know of. It might not have the biggest landing area, but if you have another one, or friends who have this pad, you can combine them to increase the landing area. Since this is the thickest crash pad, it will inherently be on the bulky side. It is still very light for transportation. This is hands down the best crash pad for the price.

Comments about Mad Rock Mad Pad:

My first pad for a first-time outdoors bouldering experience. I liked that the pad is not too heavy, and it took impact REALLY well. I fell off 15 feet height (my feet to ground) and felt comfortable as I landed. For you reference I'm 180 lbs.

So far only used it one weekend, but from what I can see it's built strong and should last for a while.

When taking risks toward the top of the boulders I wished the pad was larger or that I had a second pad. But my spotter was quick to adjust the pad location if needed so it worked out.

If the pad was larger it would have been harder to transport it in my car and carry it to the boulders. So I guess there's a trade-off. I like the size of this pad as a great compromise.

This is an awesome pad to land on. Lots of room and it converts to a chair via straps on the side. Great for when you're a bit pumped and want to rest a bit before crushing again!

The great thing about this pad is you only need one! No need to stack more pads on top! The MadRock Pad is thick and offers great protection from falls. Find others with the same pad and velcro them together to create a crackless LZ.

Only gotten one use out of it so far...

Comments about Mad Rock Mad Pad:

I've only managed to get one use out of it so far due to time issues, but my hiking/climbing trip with it was a positive one. It comes with both a waist and a chest strap, which really reduces the amount of swinging. It has velcro strips on it so after opening it, you can Velcro it together to prevent it from folding up (useful for quickly picking it up and moving it places. There are also additional Velcro strips for sticking more crashpads together. The foam itself is a bit stiffer than what I'm used to, but it gets the job done. Lastly, the straps are organized in such way that you can fashion a make-shift chair, which is handing for lying back and watching other climbers go at the wall. All in all a good purchase, but can't say how rugged or durable it is.

Comments about Mad Rock Mad Pad:

This crash pad has severed its purpose. Its a little heavier than other pads in the price range, but its also thicker. The nice feature is that this doubles as a couch, not a very sturdy one, but nicer than sitting on the ground. Overall, good for the price.

Super comfy to lay on in the sun while out working some problems. My pad loves Bishop, CA. I purchased the Hera version and 5 dollars of the price was donated to charity. Really great!
