Comments about Metolius Magnum Crash Pad:
This thing is massive! It's almost as big as my bed and works get as a sleeping pad while camping (seriously, I can set up my tent over it).
If you are worried about missing the pad on that next big fall this is for you; great for solo climbing if you don't have a spotter. Since I got this I feel like I have more confidence climbing those tough routes b/c you can't miss hitting it. It's almost twice as big as smaller crash pads but it almost weights twice as much too. Keep that in mind if you have to go for a long hike.
It folds up securely with a few convenient pockets for a guide book, phone or keys although remember to take your phone out before you through it on the ground. The strap on the back works well for holding you shoes and chalk bag too.
Also if you have a two door car it can be a pain to get in the back seat and I don't think there is a small car that can fit this in its trunk.
All in all I am very satisfied with it. The price felt a little high but I used my rebate and discount this year to bring it way down. You may be able to buy two crash pads for the same price but it would be harder to carry then just getting this one.

Comments about Metolius Magnum Crash Pad:
This is by far the best pad I have owned in terms of comfort and weight. It is HUGE too so the weight for a long day bouldering is key. The closure is really simple too with only two ends to secure. I would scrap any pad for this one as this is surely the best bang for your buck.

Comments about Metolius Magnum Crash Pad:
First, this pad is big. It's a triple folding pad, and on your back expect to be a bit off balance. Whenever a breeze passes by, I find myself leaning with it (not enough to fall over or anything along those lines).
Second, it's firm. When it first arrived, I jumped on top of it and then proceeded to jump on the hardwood floor. I felt no difference, but out bouldering, oh yeah, you are supported. And so is the person climbing the route next to you (IT'S JUST SO GIANT!). Having fallen multiple times onto this thing I can say it's plenty of cushion.
