I've had mine for 7 years now, I think. They've gone all over the world with me, throughout my military career. MANY miles walked in these, through mud, water, sand, rocks, on concrete, in the jungle, everywhere I've been- they have been awesome.

I've worn Chacos for at least 15 years and have always been a fan of the sandals and flips. I've never blown a pair out and I've put them through the ringer. I recently bought a pair and noticed that the sole was no longer a Vibram sole but a Chaco brand - NOT GOOD MAN!!! I've been wearing this pair for less then a year and the sole is slippery when it's wet out (problem in the PNW) and just walking around my house, I blew the toe strap out. REALLY???? What a downer, my favorite pair of flips is no more. Time to exchange this pair and try and find a more durable pair of favorite flips.

I have worn countless numbers of flip flop brands over the years but have not found any that are as durable and comfortable as these Chacos. Living in Austin we wear flip flops most of the year and I generally get about 2-3 years of wear from my Chacos.

Boy, I should have believed the reports. These straps are wicked tight. they force the foot to the back of the footpad and chafe like cray. The black toe strap also rubs and no es comfortable. I do give mad respect to the vibram sole and general aesthetic appeal. Unfortunately, the terrible fit is a killer, and it makes my old $10 foam flippy floppies seem really cozy right now.

I wear a true size 13. When I got these, the straps felt just a little snug. I almost sent them back for a size larger. After wearing them for a week, the straps stretched a bit. They are just perfect now. So, I would suggest giving them a week of good wear before deciding they aren't the ones! They are great in wet situations too. Where cheaper flops would allow your foot to slip and slide....these hold your foot to the bed! I'll take these flops to my grave!!

I have nearly flat fleet and have suffered from plantar fasciitis before I got smart about my footwear. The Chaco Flip is an awesome addition to my growing collection of foot friendly footwear.
They are a little awkward to get used to at first because the foot bed (like any other Chaco) isn't your typical super comfy sell out. Personally I've felt that the hardness of the bed has helped my feet with barefooted endeavors. Chacos are recommended by podiatrists, and the Flip offers some awesome arch support for my flat feet. I also have to mention that I have wide feet. Not the kind of wide that you can get by with half sizing up mind you - like legit 2E wide feet, and very full feet that limit what brands I can purchase. I've been fine using my normal street shoe size in these.
The real selling point (for me, anyways) of the Chaco Flip HAS to be it's sticky rubber. It's got more traction then the usual Z Chacos as well as the Hipthongs, and feels like it rivals that of a climbing shoe. As a climbing bum, and a route setter for my school's gym, I have used these flip flops to test low grade routes, climb steel poles (yes, they stick), and climb to the balcony's of friend's apartments.
Bottom line: If you've got a little bit of the climber in you, get these.

these little buggers are killing me. Why doesn't anyone mention how sort of small or way-too-snug the straps are? I have really thin feet, too, and these things are strangling me!
is it a defect pair? Do I need more than 2 weeks breaking in?
