REI, the nation’s leading outdoor gear and apparel retailer, has been recognized as a 2013 Best Place to Work through the Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award. Most notably, REI is the highest rated retailer for the second straight year.
The Employees’ Choice Awards are determined by employee feedback in Glassdoor’s anonymous online survey, now in its fifth year. Direct quotes from REI employees at the Glassdoor website include:

“Wonderful culture, great employees”
“Great communication with management, fabulous work-life balance”
Serving outdoor enthusiasts through 127 stores in 31 states and two websites (http://www.rei.com/ and REI-OUTLET.com), the company’s 11,000+ employees are at the center of its ongoing success. REI is well-known for an engaging workplace environment, commitment to customer service, expert advice from knowledgeable employees, and strong partnerships with nonprofits in every community where it does business. The co-op also ranks number eight on FORTUNE’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” List for 2012.
Close to half a million company reviews were submitted by employees to Glassdoor during the past 12 months to help put their employers in the running for the awards. The list is compiled using Glassdoor’s proprietary algorithm, and the overall ranking determined according to each company’s overall Glassdoor rating. The overall rating is the cumulative average rating from US-based employees who elected to participate in the survey between November 23, 2011 and November 13, 2012.
