I have three of these Alps camp chairs Nice sturdy chairs. On each of the chairs, the seat fabric has torn, thus rendering them useless. Too bad, they were quite comfortable

Quality Control Issues

To assemble the chair, you need to insert the two posts in the back rest into the base of the chair. The opening to insert one of the posts into was dented and misshapen and the post would not fit, so the chair could not be assembled. Poor quality control.

I can see why it’s on sale

I’ve used it once, cushioning on armrest of ripping, cup holder plastic is coming off and I haven’t even put a drink in it. I gave it two stars for the durable metal but that’s about it. After 8 days of ownership it’s going back to rei

Sturdy

Ordering my third. Someone stated the foam on the arm wears out. I suppose that’s true, but it doesn’t really bother me. Have given these chairs tons of abuse, and they still work great. I like it for cooking and sitting at a table since it doesn’t slouch down or back like a lot of camp chairs- you don’t sink into it. I usually bring this one for that purpose and a couple other lighter chairs. This one is a bit heavy, but worth it to have a sturdy chair in the mix. Alps mountaineering makes good affordable gear.

dig the chair

Chair works really well. Love the sturdy construction and arm breast. I don’t use the cupholder. I feel secure sitting in this unlike many other camping chairs.

Upnorth outside seating potentially year round.

Great chair but unfortunately I feel guilty as the chair fabric wears out before the metal does. Wish the product was designed to allow a recovering. I have used at least 6 of these over the last 30 years. Price was great given an old model year, I noted the box indicate REI had ordered 1000. It does fold but is not compact . However is is much more comfortable, an easy sell for me.
