I read a lot of reviews before purchasing a tent. I have owned many in the past. I was looking for something that sleeps 2, 2 entrances, 3 season and very light. This tent sleeps 1.5 comfortable, two is a squeeze. Since I usually camp alone the tent fits fine. With my wife we would be very tight. The vestibule on both sides is handy for storing a few items, I wouldn't count on putting the gear for two people in them. One person, no problem storing. I was on a two night campout with Boy Scouts a fe weeks ago. It was cold and wet and the tent was a champ. We had buckets of rain at times and everything inside remained bone dry. It led to a great nights sleep.
I bought this tent last summer during the 4th of July sale. Got an awesome deal. I backpack in WA state. I've had some issues with the tent spikes coming up during a wind storm, but I'll strike that up to user error. The tent fits great in my pack. Keeps me very dry in all our rain and I think the weight is awesome. I picked it up once and literally threw it in the air. Floated like a kite in the breeze. Man they have come a LONG way with tents. The lights inside are a nice added luxury. It has nice inside pockets for things you need quick in the middle of the night. And I can pop the tent up up in under 5 minutes. All and all a rad deal. Amazing tent. Can't wait for another summer of fun!
Used this tent on a 3 day backpack trip to Havasu Falls. Temperatures were cool and we had rain one night. This tent held up very well and was nice and cozy inside. It vents well so there was no excessive condensation inside. It sets up easily and quickly and is light to carry on the backpack. Our two Big Agnes sleeping bags and pads fit well side by side with enough room at the top for our packs. And the built in lights are very handy. The only cons - if there are rain drops on the fly and you zipper open the door the rain runs right into the tent and onto the sleeping bags, sometimes the door zipper sticks and the battery case for the lights broke the first time it was opened. I am happy with this purchase and would recommend this tent.
I purchase this tent as a lighter/ smaller alternative to my MSR Mutta Hubba. I use them every yesr for 6 months when I Bike pack, usualy through different enviroments in Europe. What I like about this tent: its light, easy to pitch, the lights, the space for one person, the ventilation, works well on hard surfaces. Dont like: the poles are to long when carrying it, the vestibules do not stay taugt, the cross pole could have a grove to rest on, the pegs are cheap and heavy( replaced with the MSR ground hog) overall this tent has taking the abuse after this year bikepacking season.
This tent was great for our couple night backpacking trip near the Twin Cities in Minnesota. We had a nasty storm roll through which had 60mph winds plus heavy rains and the tent stood up to it all. Because we were about 100ft into the woods, we were somewhat protected but had issues of branches coming down on us due to the winds. Through all of this the tent held up and we had NO water coming in whatsoever, even without the footprint that night. The MNTGLO feature is really nice when it gets dark but make sure to unplug the battery case when storing the tent. If the USB connector is left plugged in the battery will be drained for next use leaving you an unhappy MNTGLO camper... Overall the tent is great due to the size, weight, and ability to withstand a serious storm. I would highly recommend it!
Went to Rocky Mountain National Park and Canyonlands in Utah last week with this tent. This tent was so light i really forgot that I had a tent in my backpack. Easy to setup and tear down. The back of the battery pack on the mtnglo broke (???) so I had to use my handy dandy duct tape to patch it together so the batteries wouldn't fall out. Other than that one issue, I would definitely recommend this tent.
I bought this tent in August and boy has it had a great life so far! From camping in 30 degrees in Yosemite and Dead Horse Point State Park to car camping in moderate temperatures in Tucson and San Diego, to backpacking in Araviapa Canyon, it's seen some fun. Pros: Super lightweight, reasonably priced and can be set up in less than 5 minutes. Has withstood the high humidity in San Diego with no condensation getting inside, although I've yet to test it in the rain. My gear can fit in when two people are using it! The roof is nice and high which makes changing clothes or climbing in and out easy, and the lights are seriously the best - they add a little luxury to camping. Cons: The dang zippers! They get stuck constantly and it makes it super challenging to open the tent with your hands full. That being said, it's still an awesome tent. The only other issue may be for some fitting two people and gear would be a tight squeeze. I am 5' 7", 110 lbs and I've shared it comfortably with both my sister and my boyfriend (different trips, not the three of us together).
Just back from a two day trip in cold, wet, and windy weather. It rained hard both nights with continuous 25 mph winds and some major gusts. No water leakage at all and while the tent flexed a little on big gusts, there were no problems and that's with only "guying" out the four corners, the vestibules, and one line on each side wall using the included 8 stakes. Tent weighs just over 4 lbs which to me is the only negative but if your splitting weight between two people, that not bad. Since I carry it alone, I'd like to move to an ultralight. I'm 5'11" and there is plenty of room to stretch out and store all my gear inside. The MtnGlo system is a nice touch and I find myself using it often especially when adjusting my sleep system in the middle of the night. So much easier that having to aim a flashlight or headlamp.
This is a great product: Lightweight, sturdy, plenty of head room, and the integrated lighting is a great feature. Pros: Quick to set up. Plenty of room for two, but light enough that it can be viably used by one person who desires extra space on a longer trip. Nice gear storage pockets on inside. Well ventilated; no condensation build up on inside. Stands up to the most severe rain / wind storms, keeping occupant bone dry at all times. Very cool to have adjustable, integrated, ambient lighting rather than having to use a lantern or headlamp when accessing / organizing gear at night. Cons: Zipper cover on rain fly has a tendency to get caught in zipper. Tip: When rain fly gets wet it will sag a bit, and if not sufficiently taut, has a tendency to make contact with tent mesh. Make sure to use the adjustable straps to tighten up fly (straps located at all 4 connection points) when inclement weather is expected. Overall, this is an exceptional tent, worth every penny.
I bought this tent today from the REI Northridge Garage Sale for $79.93!!! No I'm not kidding.
