Plush backcountry comfort
This pillow is extremely lightweight and packs up to the size of a wad of kleenex, which is great for backpacking. I know you're supposed to use a stuff sack filled with down coats as a pillow, but my neck is hinky, and nights in the backcountry can be long when my neck and back are in pain. This pillow is a huge step in the right direction. The should contour makes it wedge nicely under my neck for back and side sleeping. The fabric is slightly stretchy, which adds to the comfort. The "up" side has a brushed fabric surface, so it doesn't feel or sound like sleeping on plastic, which is often the case with a stuff sack pillow. It's absolutely worth its 2 oz.
Ultralight pillow is ultra comfortable
I bought this pillow to take with me on business trips as well as vacations. It is very light weight and packs into its own bag that is no larger than the size of a soda can. Which is good when you have to pack light and be able to drag your luggage everywhere you go. It took me about 4 big breaths to blow up the pillow. The nice thing about the valve is that it is a one way, so when your mouth off of it, no air leaks out. You can adjust the firmness of the pillow after you blow it up by pressing on the little button on the inflate valve. The pillow is about half the size of a standard bed pillow. It's comfortable to lay on, much better than the hotel pillows that can be too soft. It supports my neck quite well whether I am on my back or side. I like to pack along a pillowcase to put it in, but its perfectly fine without it. when you're ready to pack up, the pillow quickly deflates and fits back into its bag.Just pull the tab and roll it from the opposite end of the valve. I'm glad I chose this pillow. Happy travels.
Make Sleeping On A Backpack More Comfortable
This pillow is great for backpacking, and I wish I had something like this years ago. My neck is much happier, and it works much better than putting clothes in the sleeping bag stuff sack. Just be sure to store it out of the stuff sack in order to avoid micro tears in the seam. I did not and had a deflating experience of the uncomfortable variety. I called the company, and they told me that, because they no longer use products that contain BPA , you run the risk of developing micro tears if it is stored in the stuff sack. They have a warranty and actually provided great customer service.
I thought it was good
This pillow is great. The first thing that caught my eye is it is listed as ultralight and that is important to me since I like to backpack. Compresses down very small into its own stuff sack and only weighs 2.5 ounces. The only thing I don't like about it is it is listed as large so if you have a big head like I do you will to keep that in mind for your comfort. Firmness of it is great and the material is soft. If you don't care for a firm pillow you can adjust this using the inflate/deflate valve to let a little air out. All in all not a bad buy. On the pricey side but for being so compact and lightweight what can you expect?
Disposable
I bought one of these a few years ago for a trip to Philmont and it lasted 11 of the 12 nights before it wouldn't stay inflated. I switched to a more bulky one after that but figured I'd try again for my next multi-day trip. It lasted 7 out of 7 days, but when I used it again on a weekend trip when I got home, nope. It had developed 8-10 very tiny holes -- almost like the surface was rubbed raw. SInce the holes were on the top, I can only assume they were caused by 7 days of beard stubble. Too bad, the pillow is very comfortable and easy to pack. But if it can't last more than a week or so, don't bother.
Love it!
I never thought I'd buy a pillow for camping/backpacking; I always just used clothing under my head. Before my most recent week-long trip I splurged on this because I was having some neck & shoulder pain from other activities. This pillow is awesome- definitely the most comfortable my neck has ever been sleeping on the ground! It would also be better than some way-too-thin hotel pillows. It is so small & light I just ended up putting it in the stuff sack with my sleeping bag. Now I don't want to take a trip without it!
Best camping mini-splurge yet.
This pillow has changed the way I sleep in the backcountry. It's soft material and neck contour make it super comfortable—it's a fantastic little luxury to fall back on after a long day of hiking. Definitely worth it to shell out a few extra for the large; still incredibly ultralight and packs down to the size of my fist. I also like the multifunctional valve, which allows me to fill it up with just a few breaths and later deflate it in an instant (unlike my pad). Absolutely I would say go for it.
Sand Man Approved - Size Small
I went big and purchased a Western Mountaineering bag to make my 4-6 months on the AT (2016) as comfy as possible. I needed a pillow to complete the package. This thing rules. I had tried a stuff sack pillow, but it ended up never being full or supportive enough to do the trick. I'm a side, stomach, and back sleeper. I use this pillow car camping, couch surfing, and backpacking. This pillow provides a great amount of support with a stretchiness that never feels rigid like other pillows of this style. It's a brushed material too that feels warmer and less clammy than other materials. I'm just such a fan of this pillow and recommend to other backpackers. You might get rousted by the hardcore bunch of ultra-lighters, but this was a necessary addition to my base weight to ensure that I'm rested and feelin' good. It's worth every penny and ounce. - Scrappy
for a better nights sleep
I'm a gram counter, and I try to carry as little as possible on bike tours and canoe trips. I loath the concept of "glamping". So I was skeptical of an inflatable pillow when my pile of clothes balled-up in a jacket adds no weight and costs nothing extra. But I'm a light sleeper, so I gave it a shot. I get MUCH better sleep now. This pillow is worth its weight and cost. I've slept on it maybe 30 nights now in the past year and its sooo much better then a lumpy pile of clothes that shifts around at night. It's very light. A few brands are slightly lighter, but I can tell you this has been durable over the timespans I have used it.
A Flat Pillow is Not a Pillow
I bought this pillow a couple of years ago and used it for several backpacking trips. It worked fine. Then I took it on an 11-day Boundary Waters trip and, though it worked OK for the first two nights, it deflated every night after that. I would wake up after about 2 hours of sleep to a flat pillow, and would have to inflate it again and again. When I returned home, I held it under water to identify where it was leaking, and it was leaking from the inflation valve. Unless this product has been improved within the last couple of years, I would not recommend it. The lifespan is just too short for the price you pay.
