    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Raleigh Sojourn Bike - 2014 is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2014 model different than previous model Before I settled on a Sojourn (a choice I would make again) I read all the online reviews. Most of these reviews, I found out after my purchase, however, are a bit outdated since Raleigh has recently changed recently some things. I am certain these changes apply to the 2014 model - but possibly the 2012 or 2013 too. I am no expert, but I thought I would here point out the two major changes (so far as I can tell): 1: The handlebars. The handlebars are no longer the short drop, large flare out bars most reviews talk about. They are now more of a standard cycle-cross/touring style. To me, this is a very good thing. 2: Accessories: The bike no longer comes with a bell, nor does it come with a pump or pedals. I personally do not care about any of these things (the stock pedals never interested me), but if you do you should take note. The bike still comes with brooks B17 saddle, Brooks bar-tape, extra spokes, nice fenders and a rack. To me, these are the important things anyway. That said, as for a "review", I have been riding the bike for about three months now through all sorts of weather and the only issue I can find with it is that it is indeed a bit heavy. Keep the tires pumped, though, and this is not that big of a deal as most touring bikes are pretty heavy. This one is often written about as being heavier than most, however, but I bet if you put a B17, brooks tape, fenders and a rack on similar bikes in the price range they wouldn't be all that lighter. Otherwise, it rides super smooth and takes a beating in stride. Oh yeah, the disc brakes are greater in this Pacific NW weather. Bottom line is to simply get the bike that works for you. Most are made by Giant in Taiwan anyway, and will be similarly spec'ed if they cost around the same amount - so just get what you want.
