by MackenzieFrankfromWell-Rounded ShoeI'm newer (<2 years) to Colorado and I just needed something to wear on day-hikes. A co-worker recommended Merrell as I feel somewhat overwhelmed by quality brands as I transition into more outdoor activities. Two hikes so far, but these get the job done! True-to-size fit, comfortable, very lightweight, & good traction. Highly recommended!

by Nicki the HikerfromGreat shoeI just bought these sneakers for a day hike I was did in upstate NY bc the sales person at REI recommended them. This was my first hike of the season. The first 1/3 of the hike was a scramble and the traction in these shoes really held up. They were also super comfortable and lightweight. I can't wait to use them again.

by AlexJouJoufromLove them - trails or road - comfy & Supportive!I've been running trails that are more technical in the Merrell AllOut Rush which I love. These are built on the same last and have much the same feel except they are snugger around midfoot - with a feel of someone embracing your arch. It took me a while to get comfortable in this shoe and the first run I felt like I couldn't get into my groove. After that, though, it was smooth sailing.
My sweet spot for drop tends to be 3-6mm and these, at 6mm, are just perfect. Not too much (dislike "high heel" running shoes) but enough to take a bit of pressure off the calf/achilles area. They fit the foot like other similar Merrell's so that is something you get used to when you run in Merrell's. They are not sloppy and the heel fits great. There is plenty of toe box width. These Fuse have a slightly less "high" toe box so my toe first felt like it was hitting the top. Once I splayed the toes this went away. Also when I walk and first put them on there is almost a crease across the top of the foot from the fabric which is thicker than mesh and not as flexible. It too goes away when I run (or I don't notice it..not sure which). In any case no blisters, no hot spots, no soreness when running in these. I've used these a lot doing hill repeats and they work perfectly for something like that.
I don't think these would do well on really technical terrain with a lot of rocks or mud but regular single track which is packed dirt, a little bit of gravel, and rooty is handled superbly by the Fuse. Happy Trails!
