Rated5out of5bychristmascactusfromAwesome trail shoesNOTE: already reviewed these, but can't figure out how to update.
I just took these shoes as my only shoes (other than cheap flip flops) on a week long trip, hiking in Utah. They were AWESOME. Hiking isn't one of the possible 'best uses', but I'd add it if I could. If you're not into bulky hiking boots/shoes (I always hiked in traditional running shoes before), these are worth a shot. We were walking through shin-waist deep running water for several hours on the first day, and the traction that these things have on the rocks is unbeatable. The thin sole really helps you feel your way around and grab on, and the grips are great. They also dried very quickly. The next day we did a steep, rocky trail (no water this time), and they were just as good.
I kept using them all week and my knees--which are NEVER cooperative for camping/hiking, especially on steep hills--were totally happy. The muscles in my feet were tired at the end of some of the longer days, but never sore. These are my new favorite shoes. I might actually buy another pair for when they wear out.

Rated4out of5bychristmascactusfromPleasant SurpriseHonestly, I ordered these pretty much only because they were on sale. I've never used barefoot shoes before, but with REI's return policy I thought I'd give it a shot. They are great! Super lightweight and breathable, and they are not bad looking to wear around, as tennis shoes go. The barefoot thing definitely takes some getting used to, but I followed the directions and started slow, and my feet and knees are very happy with the switch.
So far I've run on the road and on a track, and taken them on a trail with lots of rock scrambling. They were totally perfect on the rocks--great traction even when it started raining. I've only had them a month, so can't say much about durability, but they seem well made.
The only (very slight) complaint I have is that they're not great to bike with--the circular grippy things on the bottom sit a little awkwardly on the pedals.

Rated3out of5byOSUAngiefromToo BigI went to the local store and tried on a few "barefoot-type" running shoes. In the store I tried on a similar style to this brand, and i was a half size smaller than regular but they fit the best of all the brands I tried. I ordered these, too big. They dont feel good on my feet, maybe because too big, but even for the sale price, I wasnt impressed. I am sending them back for regular running shoes.
