by markinmtfromGood Boot but it is a compromiseMy hiking boots and pacs boots both disintegrated right as winter set in. These do a fair job of replacing both. They are fine for clearing snow, walking up to a couple miles and have been in some frozen slush puddles 3-4 inches deep with no problems. Decent ankle support. They are not nearly as warm as my old pacs but of course are far lighter. Not an comfortable as my Merrell hiking boots but warmer with better waterproofing. I would not use them for long hikes in the snow but they would do in a pinch. All in all a good compromise boot. Finally they fit true. I wear an 11 or 11.5 in all my Merrells and an 11 is perfect in these with a liner and mid weight wool sock. On sale, as mine were, they are a real bargain.

by TorahfromLove EmMy son loved these boots! He's 14 and out in the snow all day. They kept his feet warm and dry. He said they were comfortable and didn't require any break in period.

by magicmarkerfromBy far the worst shoe I've ever ownedBy far the worst shoes I've ever used, after going on a 16miles hike over 3 days in cold weather, in snow and in dry ground this dug into the lateral upper ankle. I wore wool hiking socks and about 2 miles in I felt the pain...after 4 miles its was unbearable. It caused bruising, swelling, and scrape on the latteral side of my upper ankle and every step was very painful.
Do not get this shoe! I would have never thought I would have any problems with any shoes...I've used expensive high top Asolo brand and cheap columbia brand, what ever my budget is, I just get it and never ever had a problem. Maybe these my walking style did not match this shoe's design?

by MattThfromSo far so goodI have worn these boots about 8-10 times now and generally I am happy with them so far. They are definitely very warm and keep out water completely – at least up to the ankle. The lacing system works very well and they go on and come of easily. They were a bit stiff when I first got them and caused a little leg fatigue, but as they have broken in this has gotten better. They seem very durable and have a good grippy tread. They could be lighter and less bulky, but I was more concerned with warmth when I bought them. They have 400g of insulation and the design is pretty good at keeping snow and water out of the boot. It is pretty hard to find a significantly lighter boot that will keep your feet this warm and dry for a similar price.

by THE BACKPACKfromAwesome Boots For Winter CampingOnly had these boots a short time and love them. Merrell has always been good to me. Already used these on an overnight backpacking trip in the snow. We had about 5 inches of snow and weather dropped into the high teens at night. I was on my feet a lot and these boots kept me warm and dry with only one pair of socks on.
