Comments about Big Agnes Lost Ranger +15 Sleeping Bag - 2011 Closeout:

Ultimately went with this bag off a recommendation. I am 6'1" and was talked into the long. I already own the Big Agnes pad that matched this bag so deciding to buy this bag was a fit.

Long story short after laying on the floor in the basement of my house with the pad inflated and the bag zipped I found myself shivering cold. The temp rating is completely off base and to even get close to calling this a 20 degree bag would require a hefty fleece liner. I weigh in at about 210lbs and thought that the long would allow more comfort but what I didn't realize was the added width that comes with the long version. This added width just made it so that my arms simply fell of the pad and hit the ground and this added to my coldness.

This bag still had good feel to it while inside but would only be good for warm summer car camping.

A great bag! Roomy and warm. Ive had a hard time sleeping after hiking all day in the past, because I couldn't get cozy, but the first time out with this bag, I didn't wake up every two hours and cry, I actually slept!

Comments about Big Agnes Lost Ranger +15 Sleeping Bag - 2011 Closeout:

Im currently hiking the AT so i am relying on my gear on a day to day bassis, i now seem to realise even the slightes problems with gear items. I enjoy the ablitly to slip my sleeping bad into the compartment on the bottum of the bag which helps to stay on the pad through the night. I do not howerver like the lack of warmth this bag has. Ive had days of 0 degrees to days of 70 degrees and this bag is comfortable in about 35 to 40 which i would expect comfort of a 15 degree bag to be a little lower in the temperature range.

Comments about Big Agnes Lost Ranger +15 Sleeping Bag - 2011 Closeout:

I bought this bag mainly due to its shape and temperature rating - I wanted a bag that I could stuff another sleeping bag inside for winter camping, without having to spend a lot on a bag with good low temperature rating. As a side note, this bag does require (suggests) the Big Agnes sleeping pad to tuck into a sleeve on the bottom of the bag; there is no insulation on the bottom to reduce weight. I already owned the Big Agnes Insulated Air Core so that worked out pretty well.
A few friends and I went winter camping in northern MN this winter with overnight temps ranging from 0-10 degrees at night. I stuffed my Marmot Cloudbreak 32 (synthetic) inside the Lost Ranger (down), and while wearing a lightweight base layer was completely warm. No cold spots etc. The bags fit perfectly together and I didn't feel constricted. I could roll around in the Marmot and the Lost Ranger stayed flat due to the internal sleeping pad which was extra nice. I've read several other reviews that say this bag's temp rating is inaccurately low, and I've not tested it on its own. Two bags though = awesome.

Used this bag for the first time last weekend and loved it. Super comfortable and much roomier than my 20 degree mummy. Very lightweight, packs small, great for backpacking. Love the sleeve in the back for a sleeping pad; kept me in place all night!

Comments about Big Agnes Lost Ranger +15 Sleeping Bag - 2011 Closeout:

Just tested the Lost Ranger 15 degree bag in less than 10 degree weather. I was chilly but slept most of the night. I had a Thermarest Military Issue Sleep Pad, Poncho liner, and was wearing a base layer. No tent, just bivy cover and poncho shelter. I do wish it had at least a little bottom insulation, maybe a synthetic bottom with down top.
