I bought the 27 fl. oz Klean Kanteen Stainless-Steel Wide-Mouth Water Bottle years ago from REI and loved it. Bought this 40 fl. oz. and I love it more. It still fits neatly in my backpack but the added capacity really helps on an outdoor trek.
Besides the extra capacity, I also like the extra width. The extra width allows it to sit more securely on small stoves, without the possibility of falling over.
The stainless-steel construction is rugged and does not leave a weird metal taste in the water.

I bought two of these bottles for my bug out bag because they are stainless, single wall, and I can boil water in them. Additionally, my water filters thread onto the bottles. I instantly liked them and started using them every day. The only downsides are that they are heavier than the plastic Nalgene bottles (I have used for years) and the cap is not attached. I have not lost a cap yet but im careful to make sure I dont.

Just yesterday I had to purchase a new KK wide-mouth. A few weeks ago, I am pretty sure I set my old KK on the roof of my car and, zoom-zoom, drove away. I mistook that sound as a branch or something..? -shrug- Wrong. My beloved bottle had taken its final ride with me. I do hope that someone in that neighborhood found it and continues to love it as much as I did because I am sure it fared just fine.
I put that one through the wringer. I cannot tell you the number of times I dropped it, when it was completely full, onto cement or pavement. My little friend had many dents and dings. More than once I had to take a rubber mallet to the bottom of it so it would sort of sit without wobbling around.
I love the size of this bottle too. Anything smaller just seems like not enough. I have a few smaller bottles but after one nice long pull, they seem to need a refill already. I don't like to feel I have to ration my hydration. I was actually thinking of getting the big daddy 64 ouncer but Clackamas did not have it in stock that I could find.
It's easy for me to carry. Two fingers slide nicely in the cap loop. I have not used a carabiner with this but I'm pretty sure it would work fine. On my old one, I did find that recently it had been leaking. I noticed that the seal in the cap had puckered a bit and worked its way out of its track in one spot. I was able to tuck it back into place but found myself checking it more frequently after finding a small puddle on my passenger-side leather seat. Not good. But I did see at REI yesterday, that they sell replacement caps for these. If I had not lost the entire bottle, I could have just replaced that cap. Also the bottle, when it is empty, is very light-weight.
This story has a happy ending. I have a new love to replace my lost love. He is all shiny and new for now. But all relationships have some bumps along the way and that often makes one see the true strength and beauty in the object of their affection.
Side note: I bought the Guyot Splashguard to use with my new kanteen and all it does is fall inside the bottle. Does not work with this bottle at all.

It is what it is...a 40oz capacity, stainless steel "Kanteen". The cap threads on easily and doesn't leak. It is not insulated though, and I don't believe Klean offers a 40 oz insulated Kanteen yet, so just know that when you buy. No complaints.

I use this bottle everyday at work (warehouse) and whenever I go out hiking (about once a week). It never tastes bad like plastic bottles do, it has a good, sturdy lid, and it doesn't have any weird chemicals in it.

My girlfriend bought me this bottle before i was about to go hiking of the AT for just 3 nights. I have to say i am very pleased with this bottle with its capacity along with it's reliability. I have always been an eco person so this bottle was really the one for me. I was getting so tired of looking for my camelbak or my plastic water bottle and finding warm water. Even if this had not been given to me I think that the money is well worth it for a bottle that you can use for the rest of your life.
I would also recommend buying an insulating pouch for it.

I use mine on the river, hiking, gardening, construction, whatever. Use it to haul coffee during to work (be sure to wash right after drinking) The insulating sleeves are nice here, no vacuum required, just don't wait too long to drink it (never a problem here).
My daughter backed over my last one (narrower neck) in her RAV4, crimped it pretty good. I put a couple of tablespoons of water in it, cinched the cap good and tight, set it on the kitchen stove, put a big pot over it (just in case!) and turn on the flame to low. Just like a Science Project, it made lots of nice metal popping and pinging sounds, then stopped. I killed the heat left it there for a few hours or so, then gingerly moved it to the sink, ran cold water on it, and bingo! Almost as good as new (well, like me, more wrinkled now but still doesn't leak).
I miss the nalgene for it's self-keeping cap, though. For river trips, I duct tape a loop of webbing to the Klean Kanteen bottle and another thinner one from that loop to the cap. Part of the ritual, perhaps, but would be nice if they had a solution for that.

The stainless Kleen Kanteen bottles are now my husband's and my favorite water bottles. He likes the wide mouth and the large capacity of this bottle. I may actually prefer the slightly smaller bottles with the less-wide mouth, but I like them all. They don't seem heavy to me even though they are steel. I have taken them hiking, cycling, paddling, caving, and to work. I have not yet dropped one so I can't comment on that.
For cycling, Kleen Kanteen makes a bike cage for the 27-oz bottles. The ancient bottle cage I had for soft plastic water bottles did not fit the Kleen Kanteen bottles. You probably want the 27-oz size for cycling.
There are also insulated models available(in smaller sizes), although I have not yet seen them at REI.
