The Paramount Valley convertible pants by The North Face will take you on or off the trail with ease.

  • Made from durable midweight faille weave nylon with double-needle stitching and bar tacks throughout for increased abrasion and tear resistance
  • Fabric is treated with a Durable Water Repellent finish for water resistance and quick drying
  • Offers very good protection from the sun: Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) of 30
  • Constructed waist with internal drawstring lets you adjust the fit
  • Hand pockets and 2 front cargo pockets; rear pockets feature rip-and-stick closures
  • Pant legs zip off at mid-thigh to create shorts with 6 in. inseam; elastic on rear belt loops provides a storage place for zipped-off legs
  • Roll-up cuffs provide an alternate length and additional ventilation

    I got these online, otherwise I wouldn't have bought them after trying them on. I have a fairly average build so I feel it's fair to say that these pant legs are made too narrow for an average woman's thigh to still allow her to comfortably lift her leg as she would need to on a hike. The fabric doesn't stretch, so there isn't any give on these.

    If you have skinnier legs than the average woman then these might work for you. I exchanged these in-store for a pair of convertible Prana pants that stretch nicely and are fairly comparable to this design, but with much more freedom of movement.
