Rated4out of5byIsaac RfromSolid approach shoeTook them for a spin at Seneca last weekend. Super comfortable approach shoes. Tacky rubber. Was able to easily toe on to the rock during 3rd/4th class sections. They were comfortable and fast on the wet trails.

Rated4out of5byStegengafromSolid Shoe for the PriceI purchased these approach shoes on closeout from REI for a steal. I was living in Wyoming at Grand Teton National Park for the summer and wanted to have some solid approach shoes for some of the climbs we were going to be doing.
The first thing I would recommend is, just like the rest of the reviews say, definitely get a half size bigger than you are. I wear about an 11 and ordered an 11.5. They fit great, and feel like a normal 11.
I wore these shoes on a free solo climb of Grand Teton (13,770 ft) and they performed quite well. We did the Owen-Spalding route which rates about a 5.4 or 5.5. Never had any problems with the shoes, and felt quite confident while wearing them up the climb. The traction is good, though I will say that the rubber on the sole isn't the best sticky rubber out there. I've seen some other La Sportiva approach shoes that have better sticky rubber traction. Also, if I were to buy another pair of approach shoes, I would most likely choose high-topped shoes with ankle support. Sometimes I have rolled my ankles in these shoes. This being said, the Warhawk still does a great job and I trust it to keep me to the rocks much more than I would a hiking shoe or boot.
If you're looking for an approach shoe from a trusted brand that performs well, is comfortable, and is available for such a good price for those boulder scrambles or easy 4th and 5th class climbing, the 5.10 Warhawk approach shoe is really great option.

Rated1out of5byRasta EndorphinfromDo not buyBasically this shoe was falling apart after 1 month use. Used it for super chill hikes to the crag and the upper/front sole started to come off the shoe. Then after 1 month use, the rubber completely broke. Such bad quality from 5.10. The only great thing about this shoe was the rubber properties (friction), other than that, it does not lasts long.

Rated4out of5byTyler loves to climbfromBad to the boneThese shoes are so sticky. I brought them with me to stone mountain NC today for some scary runout slab climbing. I never took my real climbing shoes out of my bag! I trad led a 5.8 first climb of the day with these. Then since they did so great I went and led a 5.10R with them. And for people that don't know stone. 100' 5.10 with one or two bolts No gear is the norm:0 I was blown away at the level of grip. So all in all I climbed 8 slab climbs today and this is the only shoe I wore. While my friends were crying about how bad their feet hurt with normal climbing shoes. My feet felt great. I'm ordering another pair now before they are gone.

Rated4out of5bySoletripfromShoe with a grippy sole.I expected a good shoe from FiveTen company since I already own few pairs of climbing shoes. This approach shoe is very comfortable and is very grippy — the most important for me. I read reviews upon it and ordered it a size up and it worked. So the sizing for this shoe is one size too small. The traction this shoe affords is remarkable, hence it wears out faster. Therefore I don't use this shoes on average trail hikes, but on 4th and 5th class scrambles it is amazing.
