      I commute four miles by bike everyday, in all Seattle weather. I use my pannier to carry lunch and extra clothing. On my way home from work I might carry the bag with me to pick up groceries, do errands, or meet friends at a restaurant.

      Previous to buying this bag I used an Ortlieb Backroller Classic that survived (and still survives) five years of heavy use. I love the quality, reflectivity, waterproofness, and easy on-off of Ortlieb bags.

      Although my Rollerback Classic was always very functional, it looked gangly when I schlepped it with me on my errands. I bought this new Ortlieb Velo-Shopper because I wanted a similar large cycling bag that had a more structured, tailored look. When I set it down, it always sits neatly upright. The structured shape makes it easier to load and unload. The snap-flap closure is easy to use and looks sleeker than the roll-top of the Rollerback Classic. The two color options are both street-visibile without being garish.

      The only downside is that, due to its structured shape, this bag does not compress into a smaller space when it's empty.
