Reluctant to spend twice the price as other light hikers for boots that would probably leak (or wear quickly) but glad I did because they do not; hiked a few times before finally stepping in a stream and stayed dry -- now I don't even think about it. Comfortable, not too hot, laces tighten easily, and the tread sheds dried mud. If they last I will be really happy.

I use these boots when I'm out taking pictures. They are comfortable and hold up well. I like them enough that I ordered another pair to have in the wings when these get tired.

I have only used for a month, so minimum input thus far. Required a short break in but no problems. Water has not been a problem. Traction is outstanding as opposed to Keens. They be a bit hot in the summer.
I go through a lot of boots and thus far would rate these near the top..

I love these shoes. It winter now so I just use them 2-3 times daily to walk my dog. Outstanding traction and support. I cannot wait for my first spring hike. Waterproof but could be warmer.

Great boot! Bought it to use for everyday/hiking. Break-in period was about 3 days. While I have yet to test it on a warm weather hike, I did use them while on the mountains near Lake Tahoe in the dead of winter and have absolutely no complaints. While this boot would not prove useful trudging through knee-deep snow, it's quite durable, warm, and waterproof trudging on snow and slush both on the streets of South Lake and up in the mountains at Heavenly. I read reviews where the boot is not waterproof or warm, but I discovered that the opposite is true. Nearly all parts of the boots had snow on them at some point during the day, and my feet stayed comfortable and dry throughout. As soon as I test them out on a springtime hike in California, I will write another review to provide feedback. The only gotcha is even though I bought one size larger than normal, as recommended by reviews outside REI, I ended up having to buy two sizes larger for it to comfortably fit. I just got back from some trekking in the Canary Islands- rocky trails with fairly steep ups and downs. These puppies did very well- good traction and my foot didn't slide to the front of the boot- nor did my heel rise and fall with each step. My ankles didn't roll on me either. No blisters- grins from me! I usually fit a size 11...went with an 11.5 and it was right-on. I have a EE width foot, and these are just wide enough. Any narrower and I'd be in trouble...if they break out at all in the future I'll be happy for a long time. I'm headed to tour Mont Blanc this summer- and these are going along. If they break out any, and if they hold up I'll consider them "five stars". On sale, they are a great deal. Sorry Lowa, Asolo, Merrell, and Vasque- there's a new guy in town and he's got the fit down!
