Safe in a a old town
This is a great canoe. we canoed for 1 1/2 hrs in a very strong wind hitting the front side of the canoe with water coming over the side thinking we would capsize but we did not it was very rough going but we live to tell the story. The seat are quit good but my wife like to put a 2 inch padding on the seat, The canoe has 2 storage compartments 1 clips down to hold some small safety equipment and the other 1 is 100% water tight that can hold your phone. Has 2 in built rod holders and plenty of room to stretch your legs out. there is room to put a watertight barrel behind the front person and small cooler in the middle. I have now adder a electric motor to it and a battery under the front seat on the side.and i have converter a Milk crate to fit behind the rear seat.
perfect for families
I have been looking to either buy a kayak or canoe. wanted a canoe because I wanted something the family could do together I'm glad I pulled the trigger on this canoe. This watercraft is so comfy with the backrests and is extremely stable. great buy!
Bring this Canoe back to the market!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Took this model canoe down the buffalo river covering 128 miles over 7 days. It carried 2 men and about 200lbs of gear perfectly and was very reliable. Very durable and my only complaint is that they seem to have discontinued the 160. I’m currently trying to buy another 160 to have two of them. Bring it back Old town! This is a great long haul canoe!
Poor quality!!
I bought in April of this year. Developed 2 large waves in the haul before it was used the first time. Was stored upside down as recommended.
Hi Lar, thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with the Saranac but appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Please contact us at feedback@oldtowncanoe.com or 800-343-1555 if you’d like to discuss anything further.
Totally Satisfied
Beautiful Canoe, we got it right in the water when we got home. Staff could not have been more helpful.
Good value.
I bought it 2 years ago. It did develop 2 big dents in the bottom despite being stored as recommend. But it doesn't seem to have any impact on performance. Canoue is very stable and easy to steer. Alle and all I'm I'm happy with it. For the price it's quite good.
Old Town Canoe
We purchased a canoe a couple weeks ago to go canoeing on our lake. Still waiting on our oars but the canoe itself is high quality! Customer service and delivery all 5 stars! Can’t wait to get her out on the lake.
Poor for the Money
I bought the 16' Old Town Saranac. it has waves in the hull. Stored as advised.
Nice Canoe
Bought a Saranac 160 a year ago, well made and very stable with lots of room.
