Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Chaos 2 Tent - 2012 Special Buy:

Bought this product after a lot of consideration between this and marmot tents because of my price range. I wanted the rainfly buckle to tent design. Went with this tent because of the sale price. Loved the tent, very easy to set up and perfect size with a very nice vestibule. Low profile design but very roomy, i did not need to search very hard for a large enough spot to set the tent up. First time i used it we went a little to early for backpacking but me and my group of friends couldn't wait any longer after all our new gear from christmas. It got down to 18 degrees at night and snowed a little. Tent held great. nice and tight design, what little snow we got, most of it just rolled off. For the price I am very happy with the tent. Also the tent came with a very nice gear loft and total of i think 4 mesh pockets in the tent.

The few things i can say against was that I ordered it online and the rainfly was not the same color as they showed in the picture. It was an orange and greenish. Not a big deal, also ordered the footprint. Footprint is very lightweight but i think slightly big. if i were to put the tent poles into both the tent strap and the footprint strap holes it was nowhere near tight. So for now im just staking down the footprint. But if you were to use just the rainfly and footprint it would work.

Tent is also fairly heavy, but for the price range your not going to find much lighter. My friend Bought the much more expensive quarter-dome tent and it was about the same weight and packed size.
