Comments about Komperdell Titanal Power Lock Trekking Poles - Pair - 2012 Closeout:
Each year I need to purchase new trekking poles. I use them all summer almost every day for my workout hiking. Then I travel about 20 or 30 nights on the trail averaging 15 miles per day. At the end of the season, the trekking poles I purchase at Wally Mart or some other discount store are quite beat up and need to be replaced.
This year I took the plunge and purchased Komperdell poles at 5 times the price. I did not know what I was missing. These are very well built and I suspect they will last a lot longer. They are more comfortable and more easily adjusted.

Comments about Komperdell Titanal Power Lock Trekking Poles - Pair - 2012 Closeout:
These poles are great for the money. I just used them on a 60 mile thru-hike on the KT in southern Indiana. Personally, I did a lot of research on hiking poles before I made a purchase. These were on sale through REI and I was comparing them heavily to the Black Diamond Trail Shock Hiking Poles. Komperdell offers just as much as BD does at a reduced price. I would choose these over other cork-handled poles because these have the foam grips which are much easier on your hands (just ask anyone who's ever used a plain-jane wooden hiking stick, ouch). Also, consider carefully that these have the "flick-lock" locking mechanism instead of the twist style or the "Z" folding style. These stay firm when stuck in mud or under rocks and are lightweight. Go Austrian made!
