I bought the Octane on a whim because it was smaller than my aging Arctic Explorer yet larger than my 70oz day pack. My first impression was that it was pretty comfortable for a 100oz but was very skeptical when I noticed the new lumbar bladder. After two 10+ mile hikes on Hood Mtn Regional park though, I was sold. VERY comfortable! Much more so than my others. While it does have ample storage capacity, it would be nice to have more zipper pockets on the back and a strong loop on the straps for electronics such as my Garmin GPSMap 62s. I would definately recommend this for it's comfort and 100oz bladder.

I bought this CamelPak to do the 14 mile portion of the Bataan Memorial Death March at the White Sands Missle Range in New Mexico. It was my first one. I knew I'd need room for a bit of food and a large bladder, as I planned on stopping as little as possible at water points. Being an extended desert march, I also needed muliple sock changes. The big issue was, I needed something comfortable enough to accomodate a recent rotator cuff/tendon repair surgery I'd just had AND all of the above. This pack did the trick. I have no complaints. It's hard to have everything you need and stay comfortable after a shoulder surgery for 14 miles. Job well done.
