The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated5out of5bydscottfromDurable, highly functional, great bootWhat great boots! I bought these in search of a durable boot that would fit my feet well. I run and walk barefoot most of the time, so I have splayed toes and require a large toe box. I also like my boots to be as lightweight as possible without sacrificing durability. These boots really fit the bill for me. They are crampon compatible, and do well on snow travel. The rubber is nice and sticky, but also very durable.
The edging capability is great due to the adjustability: you can really run the spectrum from nice and loose to super tight right at the toe for climbing. I took them out on some granite slab today and they performed very well, though I remember them taking a good few miles to get to the point where climbing slab didn't create a pressure point atop my foot near my toes.
The lace hooks are generally durable, but I find myself bending them back to shape every once in a while, probably because I jam these guys in big fat cracks every once in a while and that's probably not good for them.
The boots have good insulation. I've worn them down to about 0 F with no coldness with only a single pair of thick wool socks. Oddly enough, with a thin pair of socks, I'm comfortable hiking and climbing all day in these in the summer. They will get a bit sweaty, but nothing too horrible.
Overall, these are excellent boots if you like to have a lot of traction on rock and don't like to waste time with boots that can't take what you dish out.

Rated5out of5byracksoncfromMore comfy than my backpacking boots!Great on talus and for light rock climbing. Very comfortable, provided I wear thick socks or 2 pairs. The adjustable insole is cool; change the fit or make room for socks for cold weather.

Rated4out of5bykelaafromPerformed without problems so farTook these boots out for two two-hour hikes to loosen them up. This was necessary to develope the creases and folds at the right places and mate properly with the insole.
Was in the Banff area and spent one day scrambling with an below-ankle hiker, and one day scrambing with the Salewa Repace. On flat or going up firm ground, the lighter hikers allowed me to be faster. Going down scree slopes, walking on jagged talus, and edging with the boots benefitted from the more rigid sole and covered ankles. The rubber of the sole can have short life expectancies when used on sharp rocks, but that is not something specific to this pair of climbing boots.
No real complaints. They are not inexpensive, but nor are plane tickets, vacation time, lodging, etc necesary to use these boots, so it goes with the territory.

After purchasing them I decided to try them out on a few day hikes. The boots are really light and very flexible for a mountaineering boot and seem to fit my feet very well. After about two day hikes I noticed that on one of the boots the sole was starting to seperate due to being improperly bonded. Well REI was out of stock on the boot at that time so I contacted Salewa and they sent me a new pair. I had a trip planned to summit Sherpa and Stuart Peaks before I had received my replacement pair. I decided to take the damaged pair even though the sole had started to seperate. They held up for the entire trip and performed wonderfully.
I would highly recommend these boots plus Salewa has amazing customer service.

Rated4out of5bymartin efromGreat bootsGreat boots, very sturdy and firm, but comfortable at the same time - a difficult combination to come by. They are very light for mountaineering boots, overall of a high quality, have adjustable soles (which helped me avoid blisters), and require little breaking in. Compatible with hybrid crampons. I only had an issue with my first order, where the right boot had an imperfect seam that put extra pressure to my foot. After replacing it to another pair of the same size, everything worked well.

Rated4out of5byBearsbane ThorssonfromWorth the moneyI will start saying that I opted for these boots because I have used salewa gear specifically harnesses on via ferrata in Austria and GErmany. I am a brand loyal guy when I find a good product. That being said I orriginally wanted to buy the 3 season alp trainers. They were out of stock so I opted for these and well, these boots are great and versatile. That is if you are the more serious type of adventurer. I live on the east coast of the USA and so they are pretty much over kill for 3 seasons, however, for winter in the Mountains of New England they are great. Very stiff at first they break in to be a little better and are still rigid enough for crampons. They aren't insulated but are at least good to below zero not sure how far though. They are light and comfortable and have above average traction in the snow. I did feel a little bit of a hot spot on my heel my first hike but this was straight up the expert trails of mount snow in Vt. this how spot did not prove to be a blister though. All this being said I ordered the Alp trainers also as soon as I returned home as I was impressed with these boots so much that I decided I needed two salewa models for different seasons
