These boots are great! The construction is great, the look is great, the performance in wet weather is great! Unfortunately, my feet are simply not compatible with these boots. While the fit seemed great at first, something about the heel cup caused much discomfort while ascending steep grades (and I mean steep). Plus, no matter what I did, the tongue would apply uneven pressure to the side of my angle and eventually felt very uncomfortable, but only on the right foot. I just got done with a 3 day backpacking trip over steep ridges, with heavy rain the first day/night, my feet do not have blisters, they stayed dry, and overall feel great after hauling 45 lbs, but the few issues I had out in the field are cause enough to find something that fits my odd shaped feet a bit better. If you have the opportunity, try them on, they may work for your feet.

I was really stoked about these, ordered them and tried them on in the store and they seem good, possible slightly long but worth trying. Took them home and was trying a different foot bed when one of the rivited lace gromets popped off! I havent ever had that happen on any boot. I will try them again, but very disappointed in out of the box problems. I'll post again if I get a better second pair.

I really want to like these boots as they are fairly comfortable, light, and appear to be durable. I just got these in the mail yesterday and set off on a hike above Manitou. Before I got to the car to go I noticed just walking around my house that the top 4 eyelets create pressure points on the front of both of my ankles. I tried a few different variations of lacing to see if it helped. Loosening seemed to help a little; thicker socks also helped a little as well. I'm a glutton for punishment so I set off despite the minor pain thinking a little wearing in might help. That didn't help either. I may try them out one more time before returning them. Not sure if I would recommend this product to a friend yet.

I have to say I am 100% impressed with REI return policy. I bought these boots after returning another pair I had for over a year that I wore maybe a handful of times. I used the credit from that return to purchase these boots. I took care of the ordering at my local REI store where I returned the other pair of boots. The new boots arrived a day earlier than expected!
I've been an REI member since the early 90's and they continue to impress me. Great company, great customer service.
