Bought this bike for my 15 yr old son as 'do everything' bike. He mostly rides it to school (5 miles ew), but needed something that would get him out on the trails with his buds too. He is 5'9" and got a medium, he likes the more upright stance that this frame geometry gives, which makes his commute more comfortable. I think this has worked out well for our purposes as I was not about to buy him a commuter AND a mountain bike. Sure it is an entry level bike, but it seems sufficiently well built to cope with the kind of trail riding he does and is relatively efficient on the road. I just wish it had the fittings for a bike rack, we have put a seat post mounted rack on it, but this is not compatible with most panniers, so he has to strap his back pack on top of the rack with bungees. It's OK, but it would have been better if he could use panniers to get his text books etc to and from school.

I was planning to buy a MTB for a long time but did not want to spend a lot of $$. Tested it in a store and liked it. I got a good deal from REI during their anniversary sale.It has great components,if not top of the line! It handles pretty well. 29" wheels are great. It shifts through gears smoothly. I hv taken it to Case Mountain and Rails to Trails and did enjoy the ride. The front suspension could use some work as it is a bit hard. But overall not at all a bad bike. You can easily compare it with other name brand bikes.
