Comments about Shimano M088 Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
I wanted a shoe that REI carried and I really wanted to like this shoe but the sole just wasn't stiff enough. I ride a singlespeed but am no hammerhead crazy racer-type. I think would be perfect for someone who is newer to clip-less pedals or is upgrading from a more casual shoe. They do have a lot going for them as they are roomy, breathe well, and are at a great price point for a buckle shoe. But for me the flimsy sole is a deal breaker. I'm not married to any one brand but I must be used to Specialized shoes (which apparently have a much stiffer sole).

Comments about Shimano M088 Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
I was back and forth between the gyros and these. Couldn't have made a better selection for the price. The sole is definitely sturdy. I've been riding in them about x3 a week for 2 months now. Shoes haven't lost their touch. I like Shimanos rachet system, its always secure and hasn't come loose. My old M161's were just as solid. The shoe really didn't need a break in period. Its light, durable and breaths easy.

The fit seems a bit smaller, but the next size up was too big.

The wide width available on the Shimano M088 is great. Not very many bike shoes out there for wide feet.

Comments about Shimano M088 Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
I"ve had these shoes a month now. I ride 2-3 times a week at 10-16 miles. I usually where a 9.5 shoe size and went with the 43eu which is just slightly under 9 on the size chart. The shoe fits my foot like a glove and is the first shoe that makes my foot feel like a part of the bike. The glass fiber reinforcement is great and keeps the shoe sturdy. I got the shoe with the member discount so it helped with the price. But you are definitely getting your money's worth. I highly recommend this shoe, you will not be disappointed.

Comments about Shimano M088 Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
I got these shoes because I wanted something that looked sporty enough on the bike but that I could wear walking into work or the bar without slipping around or looking ridiculous. These shoes are perfect. They look good when out for a long weekend ride, but don't attract unwanted attention when walking.
Also, I like the precision fit that the buckle provides.
