    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Eagle Creek Tarmac All Wheel Drive Wheeled Luggage - 22" is rated 3.3333 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Eagle Creek carry on This bag handles effortlessly. I have a neck injury, so I needed a bag that I didn't have to drag behind me and one that is lightweight, but has exterior pockets. I especially like the easy to use strap for securing a jacket, pillow or additional bag. I have used it on two trips in less than ideal conditions and so far it has held up. My previous carry-on bag was a Travel Pro, but when I researched buying a new bag the Eagle Creek had better features. This is expensive compared to many other brands, but I am happy with the performance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best designed carryon-compatible luggage I recently started traveling more, and the sense that my luggage was not ideal had been gnawing at me. My first-ever travel bag was a college graduation gift with a long list of cons. Among other things, it had main compartments that zipped open and shut very rough, and buckles that would catch on overhead bin door latches when you attempted to stow it. Some bins were simply too tight of a fit; I'm talking to you American Airlines. In addition to a timely REI coupon begging to be redeemed, I had a three week business trip, coupled with vacation to test my gut instincts about new travel gear. So I bought the Tarmac 22 AWD. I LOVE IT. It's rugged and well designed, with great pocket locations and built-in accessories. My favorite features are the four-caster wheel system and hidden "coat keeper" strap. The former is a feature you don't know you need until you've used it. The latter lets you strap a coat, or in my case a laptop bag, to the extended handle for a reprieve from carrying the weight a personal item around an airport on your shoulder. All together, your luggage practically pushes itself through terminals with just a little steering. And this is incredibly more convenient and easy than having to forcefully guide a bag that can only be wheeled from one angle / direction (the weight of which your arm must partially support). The only drawback I've found is that the upright, side, and bottom "quick" carry handles (not the telescoping metal one) are built into the top half of the clamshell (when the bag is laying on its back). This just means if you have it up off the floor on a bed, countertop, or collapsible hotel luggage stand for packing / access and want to move it, you have to zip the clamshell shut to lift it. I was initially also a little worried about the step down in capacity from my other luggage. But, with a pack-light philosophy (no more than carry-on even for lengthy six month sojourns) and the occasional less-than-ideal airplane bins, it was still the right move. At the time of purchase, i compared it to an Osprey "wheeled" hybrid, with additional zip-on day pack. I thought being able to get luggage off the ground for sketchy cobblestone sidewalks or dirt trails might justify the on-demand backpack design, but a guy shopping near me who bought one, and who traveled internationally for a living, said he never once pulled out the straps and loaded it up on his back. So I got this one instead and am very pleased. I stare at in admiration. Not something you think of happening with luggage.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sturdy, expensive, heavy The Tarmac international carry-on looks attractive at first glance but the devil is in the details. The carry-on weight limit for most international airlines is 7 kilos. This bag empty is more than half that weight. That doesn't leave much that can be usefully be packed without requiring the bag to be checked in rather than carried aboard. The bag features a compression strap on each side near the top. Looks good, but why not have compression straps at the bottom too? Given these drawbacks I can't see value for money in the hefty price tag.
