The REI Venturi 45 pack features a tensioned mesh back panel that keeps you ventilated so you don’t overheat on done-in-a-day trips and light-and-fast overnight adventures.
- FreeFlow back panel holds the pack body away from your back, eliminating common pressure points and allowing warm air and vapor to escape as fresh air circulates through
- Precurved shoulder straps and soft, conforming hipbelt feature monofilament vents and perforated foam padding for breathability
- Lightweight perimeter tubular internal aluminum frame provides structure without restricting movement, and it keeps pack weight low
- Top-loading main compartment has plenty of room for day trips and light overnighters
- 2 pockets on the floating lid store your keys, map, headlamp, spare batteries and other small items
- Front panel features a large, easily accessible zippered pocket for storing often-used gear

This has turned out to be a perfect pack for me. On hikes with loads from 17 pound to 31 pounds, the pack kept the load stable and adjustments made the carry easy. I never thought I would like this pack as much as I do but the final benefit is a big one for me, the cool mesh screen that keeps my back cool and dry. It is light, versatile, and I do not understand why it is in clearance, but what a deal for me. I went through two other day packs before getting this one and it fits my longer torso just right. I think everyone should have one of these.

The pack came and I adjusted it with about a 15 pound load. It took me a while to get the chest strap in a optimal position since it has so many options. The pack was then used with a 30 pound load for about a 5 mile very quick pace hike with only about a 1000 foot elevation change. Made some final adjustments and have used it for three additional hikes with weights ranging from 22 to 31 pounds. It is light, easy to use, has enough pockets for me, securely holds treking poles on sides or back,. One pocket on the top lid requires you to fully pull the top off to access, so not good for quick snacks. Just use the two web compartments on the hip belt. Other than a pain to get stuff out of the bottom of the pack, it is perfect for my not ended use. I highly recommend it.

I bought this backpack after a lot of comparison with the Gregory backpacks. It's comparable in terms of style and pockets. But the lightness and cost of the Venturi won me over. It feels minimal and comfortable. Definitely something I can take for traveling around SE Asia this summer and Europe next summer.
Being a female, I wish the straps were more chest friendly. I should have bought the Venturi for Women's but I hated the color that was offered. The 45L volume is more than adequate for my 5'2", 100 lbs. frame. Overall, I am very happy that the backpack fits me so well. With the money I saved, I can buy a rain cover and other travel accessories.
