Cold, rainy weather and down insulation? Not just a dream with the Sierra Design Zissou 12 sleeping bag. It has DriDown™ finish for duck down insulation that resists water and dries fast.

    • Regular down takes on water and is very difficult to dry; DriDown proprietary process treats each individual down plume with a hydrophobic finish
    • With the duck down now resistant to water, the insulation maintains its loft and stays dry 7 times longer than untreated down
    • It also performs better in high humidity than regular down, and in case it accidentally gets wet, it will dry out faster, too
    • Lightweight yet durable 30-denier micro-ripstop polyester shell and comfortable, moisture-wicking polyester lining warms up fast
    • Baffle construction keeps down from migrating, eliminating cold spots
    • Full-length 2-way, double sliding zipper allows easy venting; locking slider is backed by wide, antisnag binding tape
    • Snag-free zipper tracks prevent the dreaded stuck zipper by creating a barrier between the lining and the zipper track
    • Fully insulated draft tube backing the zipper keeps body heat in and cold air out
    • Ergonomic, nonrestrictive hood cradles your head in warmth; hood features differentiated drawcords that make fit adjustments easy, even in the dark
    • Roomy, ergonomically shaped footbox enhances comfort and warmth of feet
    • Sierra Designs Zissou 12°F duck down sleeping bag comes with stuff sack and storage bag
    • European Norm (EN) is an independent third-party temperature rating, allowing accurate comparisons across brands with other EN-rated bags

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awsome bag I used this bag without my thermolite extream liner in 23 deg weather and I still had to vent the bag. It is very warm and comfy. The zipper snags kinda easy but this is not a major isue for me.. I love this bag and the dri down is a major plus!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT sleeping bag I used this sleeping bag during the cold weather months of my Appalachian Trail thru hike. It was such a solid sleeping bag that I was sad when I switched to my warm weather bag (though I enjoyed the lighter weight of my second bag!). This bag kept me VERY warm and dry. The few times it got wet (usually just the feet part because I'm tall and the end would touch the walls of the tent), it still retained some insulating powers and kept me warm. It dried easily and quickly. Never had any issues with the zippers, though it did shed down feathers regularly (which is the norm for sleeping bags, so it wasn't unexpected). I feel it was accurately rated for the temperature, as I never got cold. I highly recommend this product and will continue to enjoy mine in the coming cold months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bag for an excellent price. I recently purchased this bag to replace a lost sleeping bag. I selected the Zissou 12 becauase i was looking for a lightweight, packable back for primarily 3-season use and possibly a couple of backcountry ski adventures. The combination of the easily packable 700-fill down, along with the dri-down technology to reduce water absorbption, and the 12F rating for temperature made this a good candidate. Full disclosure: I purchase this during the Memorial Day sale with reduced the price another 20% - making it a no-brainer choice. Things that are great about it: Very packable and very light-weight for the price. also very warm. I used this bag for a hiking trip through Rae Lakes Loop in late June (this is a 46-mile loop through King's Canyon that starts at 5,700ft elev. and climbs to 12,000ft elev. We camped at 8,500 ft and at 9,000ft. on two separate nights where I think the temperature dipped below or around 40F. Bag worked well. With the zipper open I woke up a little chilly at 1am on both nights, however once zipped up I slept comfortably til dawn. Things that aren't so great: Not much to comment. I might want a zipper that runs the full length so that I could lay the bag flat on warmer nights, but i understand that for it to receive the 12F rating, adding zipper length might reduce its rating. Other than that - not much. It really is a great bag. I didn't have a chance to test the Dri-Down. Will update when I do. I should say I am 5'9" 170lbs and I didn't feel constricted in the bag - but someone larger than me (or someone that likes to curl up when sleeping may feel a little constricted. Will update as I use more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bag I bought this at the same time as my hennessy hammock and it worked out perfectly on some cold nights. The bag is very warm, warmer yet with a silk liner. I'm 5'10" and it was great, if I needed to I could disappear all the way into the thing. The downside is that the stuffsack it comes with is massive for the bag and takes way too much room up in the pack. I ended up buying a 6L compression sack and it fits perfectly into it, nice and tight. For the warmth, comfort (the material just feels nice), and weight I'd definitely recommend this bag to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of the bags reviewed! Being a volunteer gear tester for a backpacking magazine isn't all about awesome new outdoorsy products and free gear, as you might think. In fact, you might end up spending most of Jaunary through March testing 3-season tents and sleeping bags in the 4th season--in the lovely cold/rain/snow/wind of the Northwest. After enduring these conditions on repeated occasions with 8 different bags and 10 different tents, I just had to go out and buy the Zissou 18 for myself, because it was one of the best bags I've ever slept in. Ever. (Nope, I didn't get to keep the test sad.) A "goldilocks" bag for me--I'm a 5'8" female, and sleep pretty cold--the Zissou 18 was a perfect combination of lightweight, warm, compressible, roomy, and moisture-resistant. Extra bonus: the zipper never stuck! After recommending it far and wide, a couple of guy friends told me they bought this bag--and they too have nothing but good things to say about it. As part of my testing, I left this bag out in the rain for 5 hours...and then slept in it. Although it was a little uncomfortable, I didn't get cold on a 38-degree evening in a 3-season tent by myself. So the DriDown does indeed do what they say it will do: loft and keep you warm, even when soaked. Sierra Designs also makes this bag in an even warmer model, if you need it. I just used a lightweight silk liner with this one for colder conditions, and it is perfectly comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Bag This bag is FANTASTIC. I bought it a while back and have been using it on all my trips since. It's like an unbelievably comfortable synthetic bag, since you don't have to worry so much about water and all. It's possibly the most comfortable thing I've ever slept in... To be honest, sometimes during the winter I even sleep in it instead of my bed, just because of how comfortable it is. Definitely a great buy, so glad I bought it as my first down bag! Haven't been let down with it since.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Zissou 12 This is a super warm bag. Totally comfortable below freezing, 8000, 10000, 12000ft, no problem. Have not gotten it wet enough to test the drydown. Perfect for backbacking. Nice and light and packs small. A bit narrower throughout than I would like, but that is the trade off for the light wieght.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sierra Designs Zissou 12 is AWESOME Bought the Sierra Designs Zissou 12 to replace an old sleeping bag, and I couldn't be happier! I've used this bag on several camping trips, most notably a 50 mile, six-night backpacking trip through Yosemite in July. Although the bag was a bit too warm for the nights (which only got down to 60 degrees), I tend to get cold at night so that was just fine. The Zissou 12 will be a perfect three season bag for me - in the Southwest, that means Fall, Winter, and Spring (Summer you just sleep on top of the bag). This bag is VERY well made - I've examined all the stitching carefully and it is perfect. It is light, extremely compressible, super comfortable, and absolutely wonderful. It comes with a 13 liter stuff sack, but I made a 10-liter stuff sack out of flannel to use as a pillow (stuff with jacket and sweater) and it fits perfectly in the 10-liter sack. I would DEFINITELY recommend this bag. Two of my buddies bought the same bag for the backpacking trip, and they also love theirs. Note: Sierra Designs lists the bag at 2 lbs 7 oz, but mine weights 2 lb 5.5 oz (if you are an ounce-counter).
