Comments about Merrell Portage Web Shoes - Men's - 2012 Closeout:
I have been an avid open toe Teva fan for pretty much since the day I could walk. The quality of Teva is going downhill as time goes on and I wanted a solid replacement for them, but was also looking to cover my toes to keep from having the occasional annoying rock slip under my foot.
I tried Keens, but they felt like bricks on my feet. Too heavy and no flexibility. Perhaps it took a proper break in to loosen them up, but I don't have the patience for a 100+ dollar shoe. Then cam Merrell sandal/shoe. I love Merrell for their hiking boots, so thought it would give it a try. Never looked back. Fit great, feels great, and flexible right out of the box. My only complaint is the lack of versatility when it comes to size constraints from going from no socks to thick socks, depending on conditions. Small price to pay for comfort and extra protection on an ultra breathable shoe that tackles trails like nobodies business, but also looks good sitting at my desk at work.
Not sure if this is a one-off for Merrell, so about to buy a backup just in case. Not letting this one go.
Feels true to size
Feels true to width
