Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:
I bought the short pad so it only weighs 15oz with the stuff sack and repair kit. This pad is really comfy at 3.25 inches thick and takes about 15 full breaths to inflate for me. This can be a chore at 12000 ft elevation. I am able to easily repack it into its very small stuff sack for backpacking. I have only used it for 3 trips now so I cannot speak to its durability but I treat my gear well and don't see that being a problem.
I feel this was one of my better purchases it was cheap compared to other pads of similiar weight and size and was a huge upgrade. Freeing up space in my pack and shedding weight.

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:
This pad is great. I bought it as replacement for the SOLite thermarest foam pad and it is leaps and bounds better. It packs very small and it is light. You do have to pump it up manually but it doesn't take too long. Packing it up is fairly easy just open the valve and roll it up like you would a sleeping bag. It is comfortable and provides good insulation. It is the best bet for the price.

Had a leak in the first one. Returned it and got the same one.
A good pad for the price

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:
This pad packs down smaller than my 3/4 size therm-a-rest and inflates with 15 of my full breaths. It is comortable, light, and gives me everything I expect from an air core sleeping pad - at an affordable price.

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:
Definitely a great pad! I had the older version of the Air Core for the past few years. It was also a great pad at 2.5" thick. Unfortunately after organizing my gear one of my cats got into it a bit. I did not notice this until inflating it on a winter overnight... fortunately I can also vouch for the patch kit! Very clear instructions and the patch held strong for the rest of my trip.
I decided to exchange the old pad for this one and was impressed to see that they increased the thickness to 3.25" for even more comfort and adjustability. I have taken 2 early season winter camping trips with it and it has kept me warm even when it dropped to the teens, camping on snow overnight. For what its worth, we did have a layer of pine boughs under the tent and my sleeping bag is rated for 20 degrees. Like the other reviews, it does take a few minutes to blow up, but if you take your time getting winded can be avoided. Very impressed with this pad! It is nice and light and packs up very well.

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:
My boyfriend and I both bought this sleeping pad, and tried them out for the first time camping in Puerto Rico. I absolutely could not stay asleep on mine. I move around a lot in my sleep, and every time I tried to roll over or adjust, I woke up. The outer ridges of the pad are designed to keep you on your pad (so the REI employee explained), but for me, it was too constraining. I also found it difficult to get comfortable sleeping on my side. I returned mine for a flat model as soon as we got back. My boyfriend, on the other hand, loved his and slept well -- he sleeps on his back and doesn't move around through the night. If you're a side sleeper or move around in your sleep, I would recommend against this model.

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:
I purchased two of these pads for me and my partner in crime a couple of years ago and glad I did! The wife no longer equates backpacking to sleepless nights! This has made a huge difference on the number of trips we take into the backcountry. There isn't even a comparison to closed-cell foam pads in my opinion. I have camped almost all my life and after the first night on an air mattress, I wondered why I hadn't thought of this before! I live in the southwest and the lowest temp I have used this pad in was into the low 30's and we did supplement with foam underneath. They are so light, we didn't even notice the extra weight. Travelling with my wife has definitely influenced my choice of gear and as any married man knows, as long as she's content, life is bliss! The Air Core allows for adjustments to how firm or soft the pad is and while I've never slept on one of those number beds, I imagine it is similar to this. The Big Agnes Air Core does only get 4 stars because it does take a bit of effort to inflate and I DO inflate both pads at camp. (see above statement.) To me, this is an obvious and totally acceptable trade-off from the foam. Perhaps someday, I will be able to squeeze the dinero out of myself for one of those self-inflatables, but I doubt it will be anytime soon seeing as how Big Agnes even threw in a patch kit with each pad. I have been very pleased with the purchase of these pads and can recommend this product for those looking for better slumber outdoors. On a side note, we use these pads with the thermarest ventra system so I cannot comment on how well a sleeping bag stays on and such.

Comments about Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad:
This is a great product for backpacking in warmer weather, when the temp drops to below freezing it begins to get a bit chilly without something else between it and the ground. I own an older model of this (about 3 years now) in the shorty version and it works great for keeping my shoulders and hips comfortable, it's even comfortable when lying on my side. Another thing I like is that I fit well on it (I'm 6'10") with head to tail comfortable and just throw my pack under my feet to give some pad and insulation there. It packs smaller than a Nalgene and weighs less (as in half the weight or less) then a full water bottle. This has traveled through the backcountry of Colorado, Utah, and Oregon and across southern Europe with me and still hasn't had any punctures to repair so I'm very pleased with how durable it's proving to be. Over all, a great product that I would definitely suggest.
