The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated5out of5byMcfontifromLove my shoes!I've worn these hiking shoes daily since I purchased them and they've been fantastic. They fit well, give excellent support for walking and are extremely comfortable. I would recommend them unconditionally.

Rated2out of5bySkagit WalkerfromNot WaterproofThis is a nice looking shoe and it's comfortable EXCEPT it's not waterproof. I wore them walking in the rain, muddy puddles on the trail although I did not intentionally step in any. Came home with wet socks (toe area) on both feet. I may be returning them.

Rated3out of5bykarasfromMy new walking shoesThis is my 5th pair of Merrell Siren Sports, but my first of what they call Siren Sport 2 (the waterproof version). It was an impulse purchase based on a sale price. My first 3 pairs of Merrell SS, I absolutely loved. They were comfy from day one and I became addicted to them. My 4th pair I kept for a year, wore only twice and finally returned them. A seam inside was rubbing on my little toe on one foot and after two attempts to break them in, I gave up. I loved the color and was sad to lose them. This is my 5th pair and I'm beginning to think that the quality and/or consistency of their shoes is not what it used to be. They are wearable, not anywhere near what I would call comfy. Maybe it's because they are the waterproof version (which I haven't had the opportunity to test yet), but they are much stiffer than my other pairs. They also have one less pair of eyes to lace up which is really noticeable to me. I'm willing to give them a few more wears and I'm hopeful that they will break in.

Rated5out of5bySusan in Ft CollinsfromSturdy and comfortableI had a pair before this one, but the lace loop at the top broke before two years, and I rarely wore them in the summer. I see that they are using a different material on the new version. I LOVE these shoes and was very disappointed when the loop broke. I loved them so much, I got another pair, and I would love it if they would last forever.

Rated5out of5byovandifromGreat shoeI wore these shoes essentially right out of the box for 3 days of hiking. My feet stayed dry in the snow/slush, I had good traction climbing over rocks and plenty of toe room for the hike down. They are light with great foot support.

Rated3out of5byUrban ExplorerfromLoved them until they fell apart.I loved these boots/shoes at first - I bought them for several months of thru-hiking in New Zealand's varied conditions, and for the most part, they held up well. They held my feet more securely on hills than other pairs I'd bought and returned, they rarely blistered, and slippage was never a problem. A thousand miles later, cracked and busted open at the toes, I bought a new pair (upgrading to waterproof from non-waterproof), but didn't notice a difference in the amount of water seeping in and began to wonder if they should maybe be holding up better than they actually were. My next pair only lasted half the total mileage before the rubber overlapping the front of the toe peeled off completely and began flapping freely and allowing debris to accumulate uncomfortably under the ball of my foot. At the same time, the pair split again along the sides of the toe, and I've decided to have another look at some other options, maybe ones with a wider toebox.

Rated5out of5byHike this way GalfromGreat shoe for the buckSo happy with this shoe, have been wearing them for 3 months, still happy. Bought 1 size larger, great fit. Waterproof they are not, I was caught in a rain storm while hiking in the mountains, my husbands non waterproof got wet immediately, these took a while and then I was sloshing the 10 miles back to the trail head, they dried out within a day and I am good to go. Waterproof and water resistant are two different things..Gal's these are a great pair of hiking shoes!! Great traction and griping on rocks and loose dirt and shell rock.

Rated4out of5bySF girlfromStill love this shoe, just not for meThis is an update on my previous review. I still love the shoe but I had to return it. Felt great for a couple of 1-2 hour hikes but after taking it out for a full day, my foot was throbbing. I recognized the pain immediately, as I've experienced it before - it's from the shoe having a lot of pronation control. Good for most, but for my super high arches I need a truly neutral shoe and this just isn't it. Putting this info out there because hiking shoes aren't categorized as neutral/stability/etc the way trail runners are, making it hard for me to find the amount of support. Hope this helps! I stand by my previous review, and would definitely recommend this for most foot types!
