    I bought a Pinnacle at the REI anniversary sale 4 years ago and since then I have put mine through a lot of use in the Sierra Nevadas, from Desolation Wilderness to Mt. Whitney.

    First of all, this bag is VERY warm. I would say the 15 degree rating is very conservative, as i have taken this bag winter camping and, without a liner, been very comfortable in 10 degree temps! If you want a single bag as a 4-season backpacker just get a liner and this bag will probably suffice for temps above 5 degrees IMO (the roominess also helps here for storing water bottles, batteries, socks etc.)

    Even at altitude, i.e. 8000+feet in the summer this thing is almost too warm, and i usually unzip!

    It does not lose much loft if any if you store it properly in it's cotton bag, and overall it's a very tough bag that can survive scrapes and accidental dragging on rocks and branches remarkably well.

    The one quibble i have is the zippers, but really they aren't that bad, and the only thing to keep in mind is that even with a compression sack this is going to take up some space, it's not obnoxious but compared to all the 850 and 900 bags out now it's noticeably bulkier-although it's definitely tougher than my little Marmot Atom.

    Bottom line, if you want a great bag for high-altitude and cold weather backpacking, buy this thing!

      This is a great bag. It is SO WARM! Too warm, really for many summer nights out, though open with a liner helps that. Toasty in the Alvord desert in the winter when the temp. dropped to around 10 degrees.
