by Sharon IrenefromNot so greatI was actually pretty disappointed with this backpack.
I've had an Eddie Bauer backpack for literally, like, six years, and it's starting to wear down a little bit. I decided to buy a new backpack before I spend 4 months in Europe. I bought this one because it was on sale, and it was a North Face (it has to be good, right?). Maybe I didn't like it because I was so used to my old one, but I was really disappointed with this backpack. First of all, it did not have any outside easy-to-access small pockets that are extremely useful. This means that for every small item (keys, my phone, a pencil, etc.) I have to go all the way inside the backpack and search. And these small things normally fall to the bottom somewhere. Additionally, there were no side pockets for water bottles or anything. That is also very problematic! Third, there was something weird about the straps that made my arms really sweaty whenever I used the backpack, even if it wasn't that hot or I wasn't moving very much. Lastly, it had all those other dumb straps that probably only make sense if your pack weighs a ton and you're hiking or something. But for my uses, they were just these dumb straps that dangle around and bounce off the back of my legs.
So in short, maybe I was just so used to my lovely Eddie Bauer backpack that it was difficult to switch to this newer one, but I didn't really like it. I actually switched back to my old one, and I'm hoping to return this one if possible.
