Comments about REI AirRail 1.5 Self-Inflating Pad:

Better comfort than the Trekker 1.75. Even though it's supposedly thinner it feels thicker. It packs up smaller too. Highly recommended.

Comments about REI AirRail 1.5 Self-Inflating Pad:

The Air rails on the sides of this sleeping pad give excellent support to keep you from falling off all night. It also works great in a hammock to keep that wind off your back on cold nights. Overall, this is a comfortable sleeping pad, just make sure to put enough air in it or you will be feeling the ground.

Comments about REI AirRail 1.5 Self-Inflating Pad:

I'm 6'3", 190lbs and have tried several brands/variations of sleeping pads. The REI AirRail 1.5 Self-Inflating Pad (long wide) is just what I've been looking for. I used up on the shores of Lake Huron in Canada where the temps dropped down to nearly freezing (34 degrees) and it provided plenty of insulation. I'm mostly a side sleeper and this provides ample cushioning for me. What I like most is the roominess of the width and the guidance of the side rails.

Comments about REI AirRail 1.5 Self-Inflating Pad:

I read a review saying this pad was not good for side sleepers but I disagree. I got this badboy to replace a heavy pad for a recent trip. Although the pad did not self inflate all the way after a few breaths it was good to go. I am a decent size guy (210lbs) and I had no problems being comfortable and or sleeping

Comments about REI AirRail 1.5 Self-Inflating Pad:

At first, I was a bit thrown off by the side rails, but after comparing several different pads at my local REI, I decided to go with this one. I like the overall shape of the pad, and the rails proved very effective in keeping my in place throughout the night.

I am a side-sleeper and this pad provides a ton of support and really keeps me warm. It feels durable, and inflates quite easily in my opinion, and does not lose air throughout the night. It packs down small and comes with a small velcro strap that really allows the pad to become compressed when space is at a premium.

Comments about REI AirRail 1.5 Self-Inflating Pad:

I bought this for my 10 year old son to backpack and winter camp. We just finished an overnight trip that hit single digit temperatures. He was comfortable and warm all night. The side rails are great at keeping him on the pad. Easy to inflate and deflate. Takes a little practice to role up compact so it fits in the stuff sack. Very good price for a warm pad.

Comments about REI AirRail 1.5 Self-Inflating Pad:

I wanted to like this pad. The higher R-rating for the size makes this more of a 4-season pad and the larger side channels act as a guide to center yourself and avoid waking up off the pad.

However, I am a side-sleeper and this just doesn't have enough thickness compared to, say the ... 3" pads. If you spend the majority of your time on your back or chest, this would work fine. I am returning mine.

Note: While the center self inflates nicely, the two side channels have to be manualy inflated. Just a few puffs and not a deal breaker.
