Tough looking and acting bike. Good tough wheels. Disc brakes work well. Rear shifts are more precise than the front shifts. Not heavy but not lightweight either. Great for city riding! Can take on rough city roads, small pot holes, light gravel and unpaved trails equally well. Precise handling, takes corner as well as my road bike. Saddle is so-so, not good for long rides over 30 miles. I changed the stock bar grips for SRAMs and installed bar ends for better climbing. Also added Shimano XT pedals. Great bike for all-around use. I commute with it. I ride after work with roadies in my club team with it and I also like bombing down hills with it---very precise and confidently tracks straight! Definitely a good buy for around $600!

I use this bike it for a relatively long commute and have been overall happy with it.
Pros: The bike is fast and the slick tires do make the difference. I also like the design and paint work.

Cons: The brakes can be noisy at times. The saddle is harder than usual.

Service and delivery comments:

I work in ecommerce and understand the difficulties of offering the fitting details on products that can vary so much. I felt, however, that there was a lack of assistance from the crew when I came to find a similar model to determine the best size. This bike is only available for sale online, so I did go to the store before ordering it. The people that assisted me did not offer much help and I ended up having to resort to the information I found online via my smartphone.

After my first visit to the store, I was given the assurance that I would be able to have the bike fitted to me as I did not have the chance to look at this model in store. So I placed the order online for a size that worked for me based on the similar model we looked at.

When I went to get my bike, I had to return it as it was rather small. The process to return the bike in store was simple and a new order was put through for a larger bike.

The second bike arrived and there I went to pick it up. The size worked much better for me, but I was still hoping to have some help to adjust the bike to my specs. I went to the bike shop and I all they did was to give me a quick release for the saddle - with no offer to help with the other bike parts adjustments.

I felt the overall process was time consuming and disappointing. I was expecting more from the in-house bike shop, but have since decided to bring the bike for service at shop close to home.

If I could leave a piece of advise: please make sure that the bike shop crew stop for a moment to make sure the bike has the proper fitting. I was willing to pay for the extra service (even after being offered for it in my initial visit).

Love this bike! Live in the city and wanted a bike that could handle the rougher road surfaces but still move me around fast. This bike is the perfect solution. Takes the bumps very well and is very quick for an urban ride. Not to mention it looks good too. This bike exceeds all my expectations! Would definitely recommend for any city rider or commuter!

Before this model, I had a Cannondale Quick for two years. After 1,000 miles on the local bike trail I figured it was time for an upgrade. The Bad Boy fit the bill. This thing likes to go fast. It practically begs to go faster as you're riding it. I've only had it for about two weeks so I'm still getting used to the more aggressive geometry compared to the Quick. I've also increased my average speed by about 2 mph in the time that I've had it. The reflective decals are a very cool touch. Seems like these things sell out fast so I'm glad I got mine when I did. I can probably live with the pedals and seat, but the grips will have to go. Other than that, perfect bike for my purposes.

Perfect for my commute around school and work. Gotta keep this baby locked up while on campus though 'cause you will constantly be getting looks. The one drawback is the saddle!!! Swap it immediately . I don't understand why Cannondale makes a great looking saddle for it to be sooooo hard. Tilting and forwarding it doesn't do a thing.

Other than that this thing is very fast and very fun to ride.

i ride as often as i can. i hit up the bike trail usually but also use my badboy to commute. it is a very sturdy bike, rides very well, looks awesome and i would buy it again and again definitely recommend it. only downside is it looks so good i don't want to scratch the amazing black matte paint on it :) i am a very happy owner!

I writing this review to make the bike buying process easy on all those looking for the perfect bike. Finding that bike that is right for you can be difficult. I use my bike for getting in shape. For this purpose the bike is great b/c the way the bike is designed you just want to ride it. This is a little difficult to explain. The bike is just quick and a lot of fun. You just want to ride it!! It make exercise easy. Theres just no other bike that looks or feels as this does After riding several other bike and then testing this one it is a night and day difference. The bike feels like the small fast dirt bike you rode as a teenager but in adult size and a mountain bike frame. But it has the quickness of a rode bike. The only way I can describe it is "You just want to ride it!"
The other thing about this bike is its just the coolest looking bike. Even taking it out the store today within the first 5 minutes people were already staring. There may be other bikes with a similar color but you just feel like this is the original and all others are copies. Don't fall in the trap of buying more expensive bad boy. For those who are getting back in the biking game this bike has all you need. Its perfect and at a great price. Spend the extra money on small upgrades: example I know eventually I'm going to replace the pedals b/c they are low end and maybe the grips and seat. But I feel like I got a lot for my money. Ordered from REI online and it was best decision. I like it better knowing no one has rode it before. Rode so much better than the bike on the floor I was going to buy somewhere else. Get this bike it will not let you down!!!!!

This is perfect for my daily commute. The bike is gorgeous and very attractive so better lock it up with a heavy duty lock. Durable, lightweight and fast. Beautiful yet simple matte black frame.

Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was earlier than I had anticipated. Got an email that my bike was ready to be picked up at the store but when I got to the store I was told that it's not been assembled yet. I had to wait for a few hours to get it assembled at the REI store. The guy who assembled my bike was very prompt and called me as soon as my bike was ready. REI Berkeley customer service rocks!!
