        I had a better experience with the new fit than other reviewers. I'm tall and thin (6'3" and 165 pds.) and the 34" waist/36" inseam fit great, not too tight for me at all. I also have an older pair that are definitely looser but I prefer the newer fit much better. I didn't notice any difference in the quality of materials or construction between the old and new design. I just wish they had a few more colors, but I'm thankful to find any hiking pants with a 36" inseam.

            I have the earlier version of these pants and they are really nice. THIS VERSION IS HORRIBLE!!! I am 6'4" 175 lbs, and skinny as a rail. I felt fat trying on these pants 34 w x 36 inseam. I measured these to the earlier version, and they are definitely not 36" inseam. They are very, very tight. BRING BACK THE EARLIER VERISON DIMENSIONS, OR ENGAGE IN SOME QUALITY CONTROL ON SIZING!!!

              First I was thrilled to see 36" length BUT other reveiwers are spot on. I am tall with THIN legs and these are super tight on my thighs! They would be impossible to hike in! I had the old version and this was not the case. REI please fix this or tell your manufacturer in China or where ever to spend an extra 4 cents of fabric and make them fit humans?

              I'm 6'4" and 200lbs. The REI Adventures pants I purchased in 2010 (also 36x36) were great. This new version is made of lighter weight fabric and the cut is tighter in the seat, thighs and legs. I bought one in each colour and they are both 1 inch shorter than the previous style. On the plus side they have a great set of pockets. If you are shorter/skinnier the pants might be good for you. For me this new version is rather disappointing.

                Glad to see these in a light color for those of us who live in /visit hot climates. Unfortunately these are cut significantly narrower in the waist and through the seat/thighs than prior years' versions. Had to return for a larger size. Also 1 less pocket than prior years.
