      I have owned many pairs of Smartwool hiking socks, and they've all been wonderful, so I decided to buy a pair of their cycling socks. I'm a casual cycling enthusiast--I ride about twice a week, 30 or so miles at a time. The material is wonderful, but the construction leaves much to be desired.

      These socks are incredibly uncomfortable in cycling shoes. The seem at the toe constantly rubs on my toes. I've fiddled with the sock stretching here and pulling there, but no matter what they're uncomfortable. It's not just in snug cycling shoes either. In more casual street shoes with more room in the toe they continue to be uncomfortable. These are going back to REI.
