These fit so oddly. Changing size won't help and I must return them. Most pants for me are to snug across the belly, loose in the waist and comfortable in the thigh. These were very loose at the belly and waist, but snug in the thigh and much too tight at the upper zipper point. A larger size would solve the thigh problem, but then I'd swim in them from the crotch up. A smaller size would fit better at the top except I couldn't get them up over the thighs.

Historically I have been very pleased with REI brand pants. Bought plus size. Back pockets were too low, actually high thigh. Waist and hips were too loose and thighs were snug. I cannot imaging anyone actually having these porportions. Returned. Material was fine.

These are very nice pants. The fit is good and the length is perfect for me being 5'5". The only thing to be cautious of is that the fit around the thigh where the pants zip off to convert to shorts is a little tight compared to the rest of the pants.

I loved these pants last season! I had them in both colors and hiked around Ireland and Alaska in them. I was looking forward to getting another pair. Then I tried them on. Oh, REI, why fix what isn't broken?

First, the fabric is different, which I like, but it makes the top third of the pants fit snugly. This is fine, because you can still move freely. However, once you hit the first set of zippers, the fabric changes and the legs BALLOON out. If you try a smaller size, the top part doesn't fit. Really, I looked like I was wearing some sort of demented bell bottoms. So, I will not be getting new hiking pants this season. I will cling to the hope they change them back next season.

Personally I will never use the shorts option, and the zippers around the thigh make the pants feel more snug around my thighs then last years. I think they would be better if they were only capris or pants like before. The more expensive price for the extra thigh hugging zipper isn't worth it. The length for me was good, I had to roll and stich last year's but I'm only about 5'5".

I like the deeper more useable front pockets, last year's were so shallow they weren't useable for much. Back pockets are the same, will hold something flat and thin but look better with nothing in them. I miss the cargo pockets, they held so much I didn't need to lug a purse around when I wanted to travel light.

The fabric has a more nylon feel this time and my cat put a pull in them right away. Last year's had a more cotton feel, didn't get any snags, but I thought they also felt heavier/warmer then these. Since I need to wear pants even in 100 plus degree heat, I hope these will prove to feel cooler.

Overall, they still fit me well and I wish I could buy more in different colors.

I purchased these pants online (since I can't find them in any of the stores near me) hoping that they fit like the previous Rendezvous pants. They do not. I got the same size as the previous Rendezvous pants that I love (great for hiking). The waist is too big (it was a little big in the previous style too) but the thighs are very tight around the zipper for the shorts. The material is different- it has a smoother finish to it and they are a little thicker than the previous style. I miss the cargo pockets on the outer thighs in the older pants. These have 2 large zippered side pockets and back pockets (completely useless). The length is fine (I am 5 ft 8 1/2 inches tall). I would highly recommend trying these on in a store if anyone is lucky enough to have a store near them that carries the plus size women's clothing. If you are heavier in the thighs, I would order a size larger and be prepared to wear a belt to keep them up! I really loved the old style and am very disappointed with the new ones. It doesn't seem like REI even had a plus size woman try them on.

I don't understand why the REI's near me have stopped carrying the plus size women's clothing in the stores. The only items that I have found have been on clearance racks because someone else bought them (online probably) and returned them. So disappointed!!
